Thread: Our Next Question for TH
(duh)
Right now, I feel that while the harvesting bonus would be a good thing, I think that we should focus on something else in the question.
We all know we want a harvesting boost, the devs know we want a harvesting boost, the crafting professions have indicated their support for a harvesting boost.
Lets try to create a question with substance.
What do you think about this question?
Most Rangers in the community are Rangers because they see themselves as the premier hunters in the Galaxy. However, there is only one skill (+ to hit vs. creatures with a ranged weapon/ but not with specials) in the Ranger skill tree actually provides the hunter with a tangible advantage in hunting. Rangers succeed in hunting not because of Ranger, but often in spite of Ranger. Hunting has diminished to weapon speeds, damage, and armor ratings, none of which are addressed in the Ranger skills. How do the developers view Scouting/ Ranger skills as actually helping hunting skills, rather than mobile harvesters?
Yes, I know that's my little soap-box, but I wanted to throw that out onto the lab table for dissection.
Have fun with it.

hell, I'll just sendthem a bottle of hooch. Maybe if they gets drunk, they'll let loose the secrets of where Rangers are going.
perhaps the question should be: Will Bothans Rangers ever be able to use the English (or Basic) language without spelling words incorrectly or making syntactical mistakes a 6 year old could edit?
HEHEHE!
And if you want a post to get noticed here, I have a sure fire way. Ask about AFK Camp Macros. You will get all the attention you could ask for. ![]()

Just thinking aloud How dedicated are we to simply improving Hunting? I'd like to see some PvP stuff too, though in MY mind, it's congruent with bein a hunter. However, there is only one skill (+ to hit vs. creatures with a ranged weapon/ but not with specials) in the Ranger skill tree actually provides the hunter with a tangible advantage in hunting. Rangers succeed in hunting not because of Ranger, but often in spite of Ranger. Excelent point. I use what little BH skills I have to hunt. Ranger is just for the proffession/community. My Ranger skillscome in handy, yes, but I'd be able to "hunt" higher level creatures with Commando/TKA template. Hunting has diminished to weapon speeds, damage, and armor ratings, none of which are addressed in the Ranger skills. How do the developers view Scouting/ Ranger skills as actually helping hunting skills, rather than mobile harvesters? I would ask a more blunt question: How do the developers plan to make Scouts/Rangers into more thanmobile harvesters and into the Hunters they should be?
The wording is slightly different, but it asks about their plans rather that their views.I've heard enough about views from the devs. I would like something about plans. Like "okay, we're not sure, but we were thinking you'd get "Etc." Not that I expect that direct an answer, but if we ask about their views, we'll get...fertilizer. Large amount of bovine feces fertalizer.

from which:
When Do We Get It
I hope to have the implementation of these new features wrapped up soon, but since the Ranger is getting a lot of new functionality to make up for a weak initial skill set, it may take a bit longer to get these features to you. The new traps and wayfaring changes are very close to being ready to go, with the tracking and camps to follow some time after.

Perhaps we need to start planning a celebration of the one years anniversary of that reply in just 8 weeks time.

I'd like to see some PvP stuff too, though in MY mind, it's congruent with bein a hunterIn the spirit of keeping things simple for the next question, I wanted to leave out any PvP aspects of Rangering... however, I fully agree that Rangers need and deserve a PvP edge as well. For the 19 Questions, I would like to see our inherent weakness as hunters addressed, combined with our perception by other professions as mobile harvesters.. However, there is only one skill (+ to hit vs. creatures with a ranged weapon/ but not with specials) in the Ranger skill tree actually provides the hunter with a tangible advantage in hunting. My Ranger skills come in handy, yes, but I'd be able to "hunt" higher level creatures with Commando/TKA template. Ive been playing around with a new template since ive been doing merchant, Im a Carbineer 1.1.0.4, Master Pikeman, and I am a more effective hunter than I have ever been. I belive that there should be more to hunting than just weapons (which are defined by what weap profession you take based on personal choice. Hunting has diminished to weapon speeds, damage, and armor ratings, none of which are addressed in the Ranger skills. How do the developers view Scouting/ Ranger skills as actually helping hunting skills, rather than mobile harvesters? I would ask a more blunt question: How do the developers plan to make Scouts/Rangers into more than mobile harvesters and into the Hunters they should be?Good point. We have heard differing views from differing people on how they view the rangers, also it has been hinted that while there are plans to upgrade ranger, JTL, CB, Jedi stuff are all on the front burners atm. Therefore, a question about plans will get us an answer like "we have plans... but we are busy at the moment." This is merely a jump off point to where we can avoid a plan/ vision type question and address (in my mind) a core issue and concern that we have.
