1 day before the proposed plan (the monthly patch almost always comes on the wednesday as it interrupts our hunt time). That is terrible timing to announce something this HUGE. These rushes will kill players off. I am in probably the perfect position for this type of land rush as I live in England and me and my architect will be back ready waiting for server up. We also have 160 members that will go out of their way to ensure we get it down first and the city already has 110 buildings in it. The city has been planned for months and to not get a city hall down could force some of my members to quit.

Please read over my 24 hour grace period that will let those who are ready place and those who jump on the bandwagon be unable to mass flood the land with cities.

oh great - if any of us are left after missing out on placing our town. A huge dream for me and my guild has been that of placing and running our town in our location, the concept of what you have written is not acceptable. This is going to be a game stopper for alot of people.

You'll be surprised to learn that your odds are still very bad, even if you are ready as you say. There are 100's more like you, you still need to be lucky with the login, the critical failurers, and the mobs on your way out there. I'd say you have a 1/10 chance (and face it, it's by pure chance the 10 winners will be decided) to get your city hall down before 10 others have built theirs.

I'd also like to point out that I believe (after discussing it with many of our members) that most of my PA will let swg continue without them if their dream of having a city of our own is crushed by this low blow.

It sure is a bitter pill having to face these severe limitations so close to the cities being unleashed, especially since so many of us have dreamt about being mayor, running a cantina etc for 2 years and more! Why not enlighten us a couple of months back that cities would most likely be limited this way? Would've spared us ALOT of planning and we could've allready been well underway in other games had we know this earlier (which might be the real reason why they waited telling us, but I tend to like a good conspiracy hehe).

When we talk about cities, you should now be thinking about alliances now, not about your own city. You probably won't be able to keep your city growing without any allies, some other big PA or group of PAs will take it from your hands.

What we need to start doing is to start creating alliances to get a city under our control.I believe this is the only way to stay as the owner of a city, specially in big planets with only 10 cities.

There is no such thing as "your" city. So forget about it. Only if you are a PA with 200+ members in it you could have a slight chance of having your own city if you are not in a crowded server.

Same.

How....utterly moronic.

/agree, as my guild has been putting a lot of work moving houses, items, even our frikin' PA hall to the spot where our city will be. I gave up 9 of my 10 lots to put down the PA hall so we could move.

Oh, and thank you to the 1-star troll who ranked my previous post.

Plinka - I understand why you support the cap idea though I really disagree. But it seems that the majority of us think it's a terrible idea. And some of those posting in favor of it seem to like it because of some deluded idea that they are more prepared thanthe 50 other groups on their serverswho have everything completely ready.

So even though you disagree with most of us, as our correspondent, please ask the devs not to do this. I like the idea of letting anyone who's ready place a town hall on the first day. Many of us have worked for this for so long, based on the dev statements that we'd be able to run our own cities. It's crushing to have this huge bomb dropped on us at the last minute.

I've always wanted to be a politician. I'm sure many of the others here feel the same way. The devs have teased us with a little city info at a time for months. We've all been looking forward to it. And now we hear that there's all these great new things to do and try, but we'll be cut out completely despite all our planning, unless we are very lucky and very fast. Oh, and even if we are fast enough, some Uber PA will just surround us and take over if we dare to try and grow. There's finally going to be something meaningful for non-combatants to do other than stock vendors, hang out in static med centers or cantinas, or do delivery missions! But now most of the people with the ability and financing are going to be denied a chance to do it.

This is easily the biggest disappointment I have ever faced in this game.

and here I thought you guys were going about this patch properly by holding off to ensure its stability... TH, i cant prove it, but i'll bet my swg life savings on the fact that if you go through with that launch, you are going ot make TONS of people VERY angry. Please sit back and look at what you're doing. People have been looking forward to player cities for months now. since july. you have essentially been dangling the carrot in front of their noses since then and i'm sure that carrot is the only thing thats keeping a good many people here with their subscriptions. now you're going to take that carrot away from all but 30 groups of people? i'd be PISSED if I were any of those unlucky few.

why didnt you guys look at your spreadsheets and see how many guilds are on each major planet? or just go to the guilds sticky thread on each server. theres WAY more than 30. and something tells me that most if not all would like their own city. ergo you are screwing good people out of what they want and I doubt they'll stand for it.

your only course of action now is to do a poll and ask what groups will be planning on making cities. cause the community knows about it now TH... do the right thing please. dont release this if your servers cant support it cause you'll drive people away

While that is good advice for someone who wants to stay in control of a city, the problem now is that one must get a city first.

There are many groups of people whohave been planning a long time for this, and many of them are not simply wanting a city to themselves. Rather they want to build a city for people to live in and interact in. The sucess or failure of a city should be up to the people living in it, not who places within the first 10. With this cap it is very likely that most will never be able to even try.

I think you are overstating the case a bit - but perhaps not as much as some would think. I'm having a hard time seeingTat, Naboo or Cormaking it 4 hours without hitting the cap. Given the lateness of this news and the uncertainty of patch day, I still hold out hope 1 hour isn't going to be too late.

My PA actually moved off Tat since it was going to be swamped, and this makes me expecially glad we did so.

The 'griefing' of player cities has already begun. We set up 8km from a starport and 2km from the nearest player-owned building. Within a week another group started planting buildings and harvesters all over the place, ruining the planned layout. We either "deal with it", or move everything again.

Well, before you start yelling griefing, get some facts straight, as I've already talked to Kahnal, so at least the two of us knows where each side is coming from.

The first house of either PA was placed by me, and yes, I'll agree one house doesn't claim a spot, but dont' make it sound like we just started moving down, cause we didn't. We already had a house or two in the area.

Second, a few harvestors is BM's, but not all of them. You have neglected to state the fact that you are a rebel PA that is making a city less then 2K from the imp outpost on Lok. You being there has upset a few other PAs in the area.

And the only member of BM I know even remotely griefing you is a former member of yours, which when Kahnal talked to me brought his name up to see if that was "our problem" which it isn't.
