Alright, I just looked through the logs to check on things, and I noticed a few people were having problems due to the long link and bulletien board software that helpfully added in HTML linebreaks, causing the link not to work. I've added code to special case this and strip out any HTML from the list it's given, so even a misbehaving board like that will happily work fine.

Looks like a 2-for-1 deal tonight. While searching for some javascript info, I happened to stumble across a webpage explaining how to get PNG transparency working in IE. So... Now the small Naboo style 2 houses will have the correctly shaped footprint.

I seriously doubt this would be put on the main SWG page. However, it may pop up on fan sites.

I've been considering it. However, once your browser downloads the graphics, everything else happens offline out of the browser's cache. The only part that goes back to the server is if you use the "Preview map" or "save map" buttons. Those it would be difficult to make work offline.

Updated the instructions in the first post to reflect the current state more accurately. Notably added instructions for the new controls, bookmarking layouts, and removed the bit about transparency not working in IE.

I've added a tips, tricks and tutorials page. This includes usage instructions, as well as a simple tutorial for how to take the maps from this and make nice looking maps of your city.

You can access this page by clicking on the ? below the palette, or just go directly there.

I would like to get feedback on the instructions, as well as the tutorial. Was it easy to follow, were you able to produce the same results, is anything confusing, etc.

I keep saying the same thing about faction bases. It's even in the first post. Nobody has taken me up on the offer yet.

Anyone tried the cartography tutorial yet?

Tiaga, Congratulations, this tool is awesome, and will prove invaluable when planning out my city.

I have a suggestion though, perhaps you could figure a way to implement it... real-time drawing of the map.gif or .png

I'll use, for example, my current map, which I have done with PSP7 and Dreamweaver, which can be found at http://mg.web-cites.com/I use seperate layers for seperate interests (buildings, coordinates, names, limits, lot numbers, etc) The map is at a resolution of 12 pixels per 8m (3px:2m) I use a seperate image for the background, and a seperate image for the buildings... if I could change the buildings online, using your site, and somehow import it into my layer as an image... without having to save the image, it would be useful.

An idea would be calling either a JS function or a perl script that could be called from a remote site. On deeper thinking though, I realise that this would only work if the map details were stored on your server, and accessed via a file or account name.

Also, the Corellia/generic cantina has a different shape, but the same footprint.
