Thread: Web based graphical city planner/mapper tool
Agreed. The tool is highly impressive and has helped our site planning (phase II) incredibly.
Many thanks for your hard work.
Incredibly useful tool! Probably one of the most useful things I has seen developed for this game.
My one request would be the addition of faction items; bases, turrets, mine fields, and scanners. This would allow the planning for their placement as well.
WOW!!! this is totally cool tool
I love it.. will use it.. will pass it around to others to see it ![]()

I'll keep saying the same thing to this... If someone wants to see them, get me the faction points to get them (Or at least enough faction to join then give them to me) so I can better understand how their placement works. What I know of them tells me that I don't know enough to properly implement them right now. As I understand it, turrets and minefields aren't too expensive, but bases I presume are.
I really should stop doing these updates at night before I go to bed.
Just noticed I forgot to copy the fixed generic large house graphic in place, so it was messing up formatting and placement as a result.
Very nice!
I used Photoshop to do my layout - you can check it out here:

Not a bad looking piece of work there. I used to use The Gimp before making this - which is a lot like Photoshop. (In fact, I still use The Gimp for it, and The Gimp also serves as the scripting back-end for creating the composed maps).
Though.. I did a quick copy of your layout (Took only a few minutes) and discovered the size markers didn't agree - you had only the corner of two of the lower houses outside the city, I had every one of the lower mediums at least partly outside, and the larges also partly outside. You might want to re-check yours - I counted the squares, and you have 8 meters extra (1 box) in each direction, making your smaller circle 416m diameter instead of 400.
(And don't think I'm being critical, just pointing out a mistake. Believe me, I've made my share of stupid mistakes.. I think I had to go back and fix various house positions several times on the first map I did, not to mention correcting the city hall and large house footprints.)
