Thread: Politician and Player City Issues/Wish List (updated 9.3.2005)
Concerns for the profession as well as thoughts about the wish list.
I deffinently think allowing player cities to look more like real cities than settlements is a very positive thing and could yield to larger player cities. This profession needs more, it is post CU now is the time to focus on non combat professions. Cities right now are just used to store items. Being able to zone the city is a must, to decide which areas will be used for commerce, entertainment and residence. More choices for structures is another thing that needs to come forward. I would like to see the city hall have multiple levels, like for storage in the basement and offices in the upstairs. Lets be realistic, a guild hall has 3 levels yet the city hall TOWERS over this structure. I liked the idea of veteran rewards. I think a museum would be a cool vet reward for long city survival. We could decorate it and show our city off. Also I would be nice for more content in the city. I think monthly live events should take place in cities. We could bid for hosting the event and the galaxy could vote for it in the starports. And then the city would be the location of the event. I like all the idea and I would like to see them fleshed out. My city is one of the originals on the corbantis server and I want to be able to make it that much more magnificant.
PS the biggest thing now that house packing is allowed is to allow the Mayor to move structures people own but have done nothing with for 4 months +. They are a burden on my city and take up valuble space needed for city structures.
Regards,
Duunab, Mayor of Miragon, Corbantis
My Top 5:
-
A reduction in the Naboo medium footprint size from 5x6 is desired by many Politicians. -
The change of the Naboo Medium House footprint from 3x4 to 5x6 has created issues in many existing Player Cities. It is requested that the size of the footprint be re-evaluated and reduced to a smaller size. Would be nice if they would have just made space on the side and back to pass-through like what was done with Generics. -
(Some) Politicians would like to see an increase in Player City caps per planet.
-
This is a divided issue for Politicians. It may be that a character/structure purge would free up some of the Rank 4-5 slots on planets, making this less of an issue. The core of the issue is that many cities are unable to advance to a higher rank even though they have more than enough citizens to advance while other cities are holding on to those higher ranks without a solid citizen base.
-
Player Cities need more sources of income to become self-sustaining.
- Suggestions that have been made include a kick-back from trainers and terminals andmore (and working)tax options.
-
Many Player Cities are affected by condemned structures that will not poof because of the new maintenance rules. -
There needs to be a time limit on how long a structure can sit condemned beyond waiting for a player's bank account to deplete. There is a fix coming for cancelled accounts, but it is unclear as to if this will also include abandoned structures. -
Politicians would like more civic structures and architecture to be available to Player Cities. -
Suggestions that have been made include Casinos, ID Salons, Zoos, Auction Houses, Militia HQ, Museums and Post Offices (for item trades via deposit). The current architecture available for civic buildings and houses also limits the city-feel in that there are no skyscrapers or large structures.
1.) There are no Master Politician benefits.
2.) Politicians would like more civic structures and architecture to be available to Player Cities.
3.) Mayors would like the ability to evict citizens from their cities.
4.) A reduction in the Naboo medium footprint size from 5x6 is desired by many Politicians.
5.) Politicians would like a player title of "Mayor" or "Mayor of..." as an option on their character sheet.
There are my top 5 wishes

My wish(es) are not for new content, but fixing them would be NEW to me and everyone else!
1) Fix the shuttle tax reset. I set the tax to 1 credit. After a reboot it's back to 100.
2) Unpacked houses sink in to the ground (new bug). Not good.
After these get fixed then I'll post about new content! LOL

1. Exclusive player perks for cities. I feel that there is a great need to attract the citizen back to the city, at the moment there is nothing in the city that you cant do at any NPC city. This goes for remote areas especially because they are hard to populate, which is made harder because there isnt much reason to spend too much time in player cities.
2.Better defenses to cities. I think this is especially important to help keep players from being harrased by unruly people in their own town. On many occasion have i wished /citywarn were still active.
3.More sources of income for the cities. I feel this is especially important for those towns that have a 75% lazy citizen population. All the expenses fall on the few who try to make it a better place, and on the mayor of course.
4.Player cities could use a higher decoration limits. I hate a dark town..
5. Customizable Mayor Created items, this would add unique qualities to towns and would be wonderful instead of making a statue with "Award" as a name to be an award...
6.(sorry but there is one more important thing) Being able to create a city council stands high on my list as well b/c the role of mayor can be quite overwhelming, its hard to have a treasurer that cant really do anything but ask for money....
just my opinions as a mayor.
Theaters, Med Centers and Cantinas do not come out of the city treasury. They have their own structure maintenance terminals that are paid for by the owner. Only civic structures (City Hall, Cloning Center, etc.) come out of the city treasury.
