Another little change to how things work. Clicking and dragging still acts the same, but now just clicking brings up a window with options to copy, delete, or rotate. This is previously what had been in the tooltip, there are now no tooltips on the canvas window.

Looks cool, but doesn't work for me. Every time I click on a building I get a Java runtime error. If I decrease security settings, I no longer get the error, but clicking the buildings does nothing.

What browser are you using? I'd also be interested in knowing what the error was.

This is fantastic work. Finally I'll be able to map out my city in detail without it looking like an ugly scribble.

Any chance of adding bases, turrets, minefields, and covert detectors? Oh, and the other style of medium Corellian/generic

We're nestled between a mountain range and a river, so some sort of way of representing them would be particularly handy too.

Anyhows, it's pretty rocking!

The reason I haven't added those yet is because I have no experience at all with them. As I understand it they are slightly different than normal structures.. Specificially the placement footprint being fairly small, but once placed the footprint expands to a cirtle.. As well as turrets and minefields having no footprint if placed within a base.. I'd need to get my hands on some of these and play around with them a little so I understand exactly how they work. I already have the art for two different types of bases.. Being neutral, however, it is a little difficult for me to use these. So, if you want to see them, I'll enough faction points to join a faction, and probably deeds for one of each of the types of faction structures. On any server except the one I normally play on.

As far as medium generics... I believe style 1 and style 2 look the same on the map. I may change the description to say style 1/style 2, to avoid that confusion.

Tiaga,

What info do you need to get other things added.. Ie, Tat guild halls, etc...

This one's a lot easier. I just need a personal harvester and zoning rights in a city that has one.. Or even just a waypoint to a tat PA hall that isn't part of a city.

This is one of the most outstanding tools I have seen.. Excellent job (as if you didn't know already!) Is there a paypal address I can shoot a donation to? Not only have you saved me time (and a lot of aggravation) but you should get compensated as well. You seem to fix your bugs alot quicker then some others (ohhh cheap shot!! just playing guys)

A question about the checks. What is the distance a single check represents? I figured it out be about ~8.25 meters. Am I correct?

Thanks

Vey nice would be nice if we could add zones to it:

I made that the old fashioned way with overhead map, paint shop pro and a couple hours of my life.

Each one is one of the squares in the structure placement view.. Which is 8 meters. The scale of the maps is 3 pixels = 2 meters.

This has been the best tool yet so far. Thank you so much for this!!

Tinyurl is a lifesaver when it comes to posting links to these maps, or telling folks in game.

http://tinyurl.com/3azuj is our happy little town. It's not quite so much of a mess as it might appear, as we have a river going from the north to the east, with a couple of buildable on jutty out bits. Theres a couple of buildings we'll be wanting to move at some point, when we get a bit more breathing room with size 2, but my main theory is leaving space around the city hall for all civic buildings.

Alright, to answer the two issues de jour...

Tatooine PA halls:

No, you didn't miss them - I didn't have the art for them. I finally remembered where I could find one that wasn't in a city though and got it made up. I now have the tatooine PA halls, though I placed it way off to the right until I think up a better method.

Adding text, zoning, etc

I think I covered zoning.. Theres just so many things people could want to do with their map and everyone's idea is different. As nice as it would be to get them all included.. Those are much easier to do in other programs, where as laying out the map is quite a chore.

However, at some point I may write up a how-to including links to free graphics editing programs, to make a decent looking map. In the mean time, I recommend The Gimp. Do a google search for it, it's a free download, and is available for Windows and UNIX. Probably MacOS X, too.

Just went back and noticed I forgot to actually update the live site with the latest code.

So for those who went looking for the Tatooine PA halls and were confused about where they were.. They are there now.

I also changed a few things to improve browser compatibility. Specifically, it now works under earlier versions of Mozilla, down to 1.0.0.
