Politician Archive
Thread: Meet your new politician correspondent, take two!
It isn't that people don't trust Baj or don't want him as Corre...it's that some of the 'vets' see an issue with the WAY he became Corre.
And, quite frankly, it's a valid point even if it's not one I currently share.

Only problem with that is "burn out". There is a reason they don't hang around anymore. I would rather have "fresh blood" that is primed and ready to fight. The "old timers" tend to be more of a mouthpiece for the devs, since they consider the devs their friends and want to keep on an even footing with them. The new people tend to not care what the devs think and only want whats good for the profession... well, except the brown nose ones

One, some of us have been here since long before beta was even rumored to start. We're still here. Burn-out isn't always an issue.
Secondly not all of us 'old-timers' are mouthpieces for the devs. In fact, we are FAR from 'brown-nosers'. We speak our minds on whatever subject is at hand, wether the devs like it or not, and will gladly roast any poster over idiocy. Wether that poster be another player or a Red Name.
I am one of those people who have been here long before beta was even rumored. I don't believe I said everyone burns out.
I also don't believe I said all old timers are ![]()

Palor,
This very same situation happened on the Musician forum with NewJedi. No one had heard of the guy and he has turned out to be the very best person that could have been picked. I had a higher post count than the guy, but at least I didn't flame him for "having not posted in his professions" forum before he was picked.
The only way I would have a problem with Baj. is if he hadn't even been a Politician, but he is. And he is already an established leader in a lot of peoples minds, mine included.
Have a great evening!

Like I have said before, I just don't like the way he was brought in. Old friend of TH, never posted in the politician forum before, now he is the correspondent. *shrugs* If he does good, fine. But can you honestly tell me he got the spot in the right way?

I challenge anyone to call me a "Dev mouthpiece". But I know where you're coming from anyways.

I wonder about how "Bajeezus" can be more offensive than the flaunting of the name of one of the most sacred Jewish tenants in a game about war, Sacred . . . or should we make them change your character name too?

I am not representing the player community in these forums or acting as a liason between players and the devs, nor have any official voice whatsoever on these forums. That's the difference. If I ever WERE to represent the community, I assure you that I would gladly change my name if so requested.
This has been my point. Bajeezus wrote to me in shock that his name had never inspired a problem. I think he doesn't realize that as an official representative, his nameis unacceptable with the double standard I cited (and was one starred over) above.
It has nothing to do with my religious convictions, whatever they may be, but it does have to do with discriminatory policies, and the perception of persecution.

1) Grow up.
2) Get over it.
Bajeezus is sufficiently different than Christ. Your issue is not with his name, but with the naming filter. Bajeezus does not equal Christ and there are very specific reasons for Christ being banned.
Regardless of that, it is a private company, period. They can set any rule they choose.

Legally they may not infringe on these rights (freedom of religious expression) unless they are employees of the company or representatives. And whoa! This guy is a representative of the company!

Infringing on who's rights? You pay to subscribe to their game, the can infringe on anything they want when it comes to you. And I'm not sure where you got that they are employees... to my knowledge, they aren't being paid, but did have to sign confidentiality agreements... just like beta participants.
You really are seeing to much into the name.
Bajeezus does not equal Christ. If you don't like the name, report it. I'm sure it will be reveived as all the other bad name reports are.
It's the filter and IS in line with their consistant policies.

ggr.. bad formatting...
my response begins with... 'infringing on whose rights?
It's what I get for having a small small window (at work)
Why, freedom of religious expression. Now, as an organization, they can ban ALL religious expression, or allow ALL religious expression, but unless the organization is duly registered as a religious-affiliated organization, they cannot promote religions by banning the discussion of one.
What this means is that SOE has a formal anti-Christian stance by:
1) Banning the use of Christian terminology.
2) Hiring volunteer correspondents with anti-Christian names.
Bejeezus has only one common interpretation, as evidenced by other posters in this thread.

:actually, Bajeezus does equal Christ for he is our messiah and savior of the politician class (i hope... and i fully hope he 'exploits' his acquaintance with TH to further the politician agenda. Having an 'inside' ear will be a blessing and further more communication. I see it as a benefit. ![]()
not that you will see the humor in this statement.
