Thread: 0 Skill Points to be a Politician?

ok so the point some of you are making is that since you are a politician that you chose to do it and you should be dedicated to this... so suck it up. so they have a profession for this.... right, where as if you want to be a guild leader there is no profession for that. why slap a huge cap on someone's abilities to further themself's in the game for something that really doesn't mean squat once you have reached 4/4/4/4 and level 4 or 5 city. basically if you ever want to have a good template character you are screwed so long as you stay mayor, hence why so many people go out and purchase a 2nd account. i just don't see the point to have politician skill tree be the same as a combat, artisan or entertainer profession, it's not the same! being mayor is just a mule, that is all there is to it. you are the mule of the city to have the "title" of mayor and move stuff around in your city. yeah there are other things you may have to do but a mule is basically all mayor is. WHAT FUN IS THAT? say all you want about it but in the end no one in their right mind is going to spend 2 years playing swg as a politician, or a pistoleer/polit. you can't even grind jedi.
and i would like to reiterate a very good point that was made. "give us the ability to level some terrain or add a little water pond, maybe a bridge", christ, I had more abilities in sim city than i do as a mayor in star wars.
ok i'm done ranting... i just get frustrated with the profession tree concept, it needs some serious reconfiguration!
Bad analogy between guild leader. A guild leader has no skills or abilities either
The whole basis of the skill point/profession system is you dont get something for nothing.
If you want a city for your guild it will be at the cost to someone
If you want to run a city it will cost you
Pilot was made that was so they could sell copies of JTL. Everything on ground costs skill points.
If you dont want to get an alternate account and you are tired of the template, then drop politician
Politician does need major work but asking for zero skill points will get it zero attention. For one thing a very small percentage of the play base are politicians so when they look at it from that perspective it hits low on the priority list. It might be different if other professions would back us since the theings we ask for will benefit all in player cities but they rarely do.

I agree with you man.. 77 skill points is rough even having a customized part politician template like i do its still rough. However you should use my template that i posted above it works pretty well.
Hopefully you will not have to cause they will give us the 0 skill points
Yes, I understand it would be better if they added more skills to the tree. But honestly.. what skills could they add that would make you a better mayor? Make being a mayor more fun? I like being the mayor of my town, because I want to dedicate the time, energy and effort it requires to doing so. That's what makes being mayor fun. Not my set of mayor "skills". I'm all for them giving us more of an ability to run our cities.. but I don't need the skill point cost to make it more "worthwhile".
Most people in my city wouldn't bother running for mayor even with zero skillpoints, because they don't want to have to deal with it.
Just my 2 credits.

you're not, but due to the amount of people here who do want *some* sort of sp requirement I was trying to work things out with the devs. guess they decided to post it now...
yeah Pappi go for it ^_^ I think if you reduce the Skill points to zero the profession is basically said to be worthless in the ground game. That is completely not true and so it should have a skill point attachement - I would think somewhere in the 30-50 range would be good. It would justify abilities and would mean that politicians are a true profession.
