Here'sa suggestion of how it could work:

- The mayor and militia can /fine any citizen within line of sight

The command is: /fine amount reason

- Once the fine has been issued, a system message and an email is sent to the citizen in question, and all fines are registered in the city management terminal, viewable and cancelable to the mayor only. Citizens can also view fines, but only the ones affecting themselves.

- If the citizen does not pay the fine from the city management terminal, or by using /payfine, within 24 hours, the citizen is effectivly citybanned.

But what if the citizen does not care and never pays the fine ?

I would also like to see sine way of forcing players to move their buildings, or maybe a way where mayors can move structures within city bordersto somewhere else within city borders, even if that house is furnished. Maybe the player has to /consent first

I totally agree with the fine system. The limit maxhas to be something huge, so that its not totally trivial (500k max or so)

If the fine is payed, they should be able to use the city resources for 10 minutes, and should not be able to be banned for that amount of time.

Not buying JTL. Its just more of the same bugged game.

A dish turret and mines at the offenders home does wonders to "encourage" them to move out.

My problem with the idea is that it can be used as a griefing tool. Mayors would fine people for any reason.

Yes, it is a very obvious griefing tool.

But one thing is a smuggler or commando griefing unsuspecting players in some way, another is a mayor if a city. Just seems to me that this person has somehow been elected into place. Of course, i shouldn't speak to loudly, i've only lived in a single town for about a month or so (after which i was offered the position as mayor), so i've had next to zero problems with my mayor griefing other players.

I agree with all of this wholeheartedly. My main is mayor Sandstorm City on Tatooine (Starsider). We are a full rp city and at one time.. we had someone violently attack the mayor.. beat her up to within an inch of her life. But guess what? He was a citizen.. we couldn't do anything. We banned him from his favorite hangout.. the cantina. But he kept abusing others until we had to let him back with him saying, "There's nothing you can do to stop me." A fine would be grand.. and I agree.. the /fine <amount> <reason> would be nice for mayors to do.. or possibly the 'head of the militia'.

And I also want to bring up something. When you /cityban a non citizen.. I *wish* it would not allow them in the city limits at all. We are a non griefing town and we banned a few people who like to run through killing our overts. This is not a deterrant. They can come in by the shuttle.. but just can't leave. That's no big deal when the next city is less than 1.5k away. Just something to mention. There are people who I wish would never be able to step into our city again. *shrugs* Just a thought.

We found a unique solution to this prob.......

I run a Tri-Faction city. We've managed to actually enforce a no-fire rule in our city. Some time ago we put a medical buff house up & a mind buffer in our catina. If anyone transgresses against our city rules, they are banned from the city and all buff houses.

So far things have worked well. Imps and Rebs respect our policies and even contribute to maintaining the peace in the city.

i agree with chibi-bar. however i dont agree with getting rid of th "incumbent " vote. most cities are prob run by pa's. they spend alot of money setting up and maintaining them. this ensures that it takes alot to "hostile takeover" a city. without the incumbent vote. this could become a grief.

I am so glad mayors are powerless. This is from another post.......act like this and I NEVER want you to have any power. Terrie

In our city we only accept Naboo Style, and all houses are placed in the city by the Mayor - myself in order to maintain urban planning. Few weeks ago our city was Rank IV – City. So one afternoon I was doing my routine city rounds when I saw this generic house placed 1 meter away from our city border. Luckily the owner was right outside his house. So I approached him, introduced myself, and explained to him the benefits which he will get if he declares residency and moves his house inside the city zone. And I also mentioned to him that we were growing into Rank V – Metropolis and that would place his house inside the city automatically, and would gain him Research Center benefits. I also explained him that we only allow Naboo style houses to keep in the character of the city. This individual simply ignored me and went inside his house, which I found it impolite. So few weeks later we grew into Rank V – Metropolis, and his Public Generic House with crafting station inside it became part of out city structures. I waited weeks to meet with this individual to discuss he situation, but I wasn’t successful. Therefore since he “refused” to declare residency/citizenship, and since he was exploiting city expansion, thus not contributing to the overall SWG Community, and taking advantage of our research facility by an exploitation of city growth, I decided to take actions to protect my citizens by locking his house, and preventing him and others to enter his public crafting house.

One day later I got an email from some CSR who gave me a “Last WARNING” and notified me that one more similar mistake will cause my account to be banned/closed.

Later I found out that, the owner was a 13 y o, and his father was upset finding his sons house locked that way, so w/o having any clue of what was going on, and w/o consulting the mayor, he went and reported the CSR for harassment.

I sent the CSR an email and got no response. What to you think I should do to clear my record, and/or what action I should take?

P.S. I’m not sure if this is the right forums to post this or I should put it somewhere else.

Thank you all.
