Thread: Proposal for topics for the next bi-weekly question

I'm not substituting in any official capacity, really. I wasn't asked by TH or the Devs to help out here, but I figured I would until someone else takes the spot.
If it matters at all, I was Mayor of Vesania, Corellia, Chilastra. One of the first 10 Cities on that planet. Took us to Level 4 without a hitch and then stepped down. Politician was a profession I'd wanted to try since pre-beta and I'm glad I got the chance.
I'm not in complete darkness on the profession, or it's issues.
And I figured I'd just stop by and lend a hand.
Hmm,
I dont see how you guys wouldnt think the reintroduction time of the innactivity list would not be the main question, it might tie in importance to the master skills question.
The innactivity rule is something that effects ever city and every player and mayor that lives in that city. It also has a direct effect on city caps. It doesnt matter what side of the war you are on Rebel City, Imperial City, Neutral City this rule does not discriminate. Having an answer to that just seems very important to know.
The Master Skill box is Important but only to Master Politicians. Those who have dropped the skills completely and only use Novice Politician to keep their city alive couldnt care less I would say and there would be more of them than there would be Masters.
The only other two I feel have merrit is number 3 to work out what the taxes realy are and number 9 the chat is something else that would benefit the whole city rather than just the politician.

This is true, but I have a feeling that the general consensus was "if its not mentioned, maybe it will just go away". I didnt mind it actually as it gave us the impetuous to move forward and not take it laying down. It also provided an opportunity to clear out the ghosts and dead wood.
Will it come back again? I think it will but not in the form it was presented to us as. It was too arbitrary, bug ridden and did cause some big problems ( a couple of cases where cities lost citizens owing toan introducedbug, lost their shuttleport which then went to another city who had since grown, making restitution almost impossible without causing pain on all sides and without stuffing up the planet cap).

While this is true to certain extent, you could also argue that if the profession highpoint had a tangible benefit, then more players would aim for the Master level and once attaining it, would hold onto it. If I found that being a Master Politician had a direct benefit to my city or myself as a player, then I would drop other skills and concentrate full on it. But as it is, there is no reason to keep my politician skills beyond the minimummaintenance level requirement of placing trainers.
In addition to my submission, I would like to ad votes for the following:
2.) Mayor resignation - more efficient way to transition between mayors
7.) Verification on how some of the city specializations work
9.) Communication options - city chat room

There are so many things a politician can do, but I think the devs think since it "effect" the lease amount of players "directly" which means... not enough people playing politician.... but I feel that the politician does effect more than just the class itself.
Here are some of my questions...
1. What type of measure are in the planning to allow current mayor to "resign" from post as long another mayor is running?
2. Is there any plan for terraforming within the city?
3. Any possible date when the master politician box will have any skills? (this been gone WAY too long)
And Griggs, I'm just helping out man, just helping out
vortexla since you are helping out.... Combat medic is too powerful..... ummm I mean... Politician are too powerful.... we can do... umm.. umm... ummm...
nevermind.. we are not powerful... we are powerless.

10. Raising city cap
Its would also be nice to construct walls like in the big cities...
I vote yes for all, but wish to modify #10. That should be a planet based decision, not the galaxy. We have enough lag, atm, but some planets do not have many cities and the cap could be raised there.
