Ok, giving the mayor the "power" to delete the house at 0 is not TOO much power... in fact i know away to get around that...
KEEP YOUR MAINT UP!
Im not a mayor. but this i can see major problems. If this was a quick fix to hold us over for the purget in 1month (even though we know this will never happen) maaaaaaaaaaaybe it would be ok.
Want the game to simulate a real 'star wars' environment... im SUuuuure the empire would let me get away for not paying my house payment for 1 year and then all is forgiven... or a mayor would let me get away with not paying taxes for a year!
Way to build a community guys.
Give the mayor the ability to 'repo' houses
Give the mayor the ability to SEE who owns houses.
Give the mayor A F##KING BONE!
I feel it isgiving us too much power. I don't care it the maint reaches zero or not. In no way, should any of us EVER receive an email that "Player X has condemned and destroyed your house" I dont care how long they are gone. You can rant and scream all you want and beat your power stick on the table till yours hand bleeds, that wont change. SOE will NOT give us that kind of power. That is a job for SOE to do, not us.
Alternatives that are suitable for everyone should be found...the idea of cramming all the goods in a bag using the old vendor code as I and others have posted would be a good start...shoot, with that code, youll find me agreeing with removing homes as well, but the simple destruction of a home and all it contains is not going to fly.
We are politicians, our cities are a democracy, we are elected by the members of our city and expected to support them...getting power to destroy a house and the items in it...even at zero condition is bad. Why? because WE would be doing it..the current code does destroy those buildings correct....but SOE is doing it, not us. SOE is the EMPIRE not us.
and FYI, your mayor would let you go for over a year without paying your taxes. Very few tax offices would move to seize land with fewer than THREE years taxes overdue. Furthermore, Condemnation is a whole seperate issue, it involves court approval, fair compensation to the original owners, and can only be done by the city when it is going to be for public use, not for placing more homes.
We are politicians..we need to start offering ideas and working on a fair plan for not just us, but our citizens as well. I'm sure a compromise can be found that apppeals to us as mayors without resorting to caveman chest thumping.
We have had lots of ideas on evicion taht could be done in a non grieving fashion.
I think people are just getting reactionary on how too add something that will keep our cities viable after this goes in.
I think for one we need to focus on pointing out the problems with this to see it does not go live
One of the things people are not noticing is it will empty the persons account before it is condemned, well with how easy credits are to get that is forever.
This will ruin cities if it goes live without an eviction process.
If a person is evicted the house could be moved outside the city limits or just let the houses decay and store the items in a special bank storage area.
They have not thought how this will encourage cross server house trading also.
It will be condemned once the bank account reaches zero and since the person is playing on another server, the character purge will not get the house since their account is not cancelled.

I'm currently preparing a mail to my cities citizens asking them to protest this change. I urge all mayors to do the same!
You will bet I will be

If its condemmed, the mayor should be able to evict and in essence have all the stuff dumped from the house into the players safty box and have the house disappear.
It is only condemend if key run out of credits so that could be years
We need to forget the whole condemned piece of it and we need to move it at zero

On a side note of moving the city around...I agree, it would be easier, but as a mayor that took over a city that was created with no city plan, and having brought it into shape through negotiations and taking time tolet houses burn, it can be done without evicting or moving homes of people that do play and live in the city reguarly. Its not easy, and this plan that SOE has come up with will make it much harder...shoot with this in place, I dont think I could have redesigned my city either.
I would like to throw out a couple ideas and see what the feedback is like.
1) buildings owned by players that are active on the server would remain as they are.
2) stop the pulling of maint from the bank.
3) when a player doesnt log on the server for 3 months, their house is considered abandoned. (notice..this is server specific, not account specific...hopes to aid in moving housing by players that have moved to another server)
4) for the first 2 months that a house is adandoned, mayors have an optionto move it once from where it is to another spot in the city with an email going to the owner of the new location. The house remains abandoned. If the player returns, the house is reactivated, but remains in its new location. The cycle is then restarted.
5) for the 3rd month after a house is abandoned, the mayor can condemn it and have it removed from the city entirely, but with all items contained inside being placed in the owners bank with the vendor storage code that was used before.
6) after the player has been gone for 6 months, the game will remove it in the same manor that the mayor would in month 5 if the mayor has not done so by the end of the 6th month.
Anything to add? I think this would be a pretty fair plan for all...notice goes out, we as mayors have levels of flexabilty...did I miss anything?
That about sums up a non grieving solution ![]()
However if the current change goes live I am sure we will never see it since they are attempting to bribe us into not having to use skill points.
