I would have to say that its alot of hard work and effort since the inactivity patch to keep a city running. Its not like you can throw alot of money towards it move people in then take a few months off. Its a ongoing process moving people in and managing your citizens needs to keep everyone happy in a community.

I would dred to think the amount of time and effort that has been put into most cites. I would have to say its been one of the most sizable projects I've ever been faced with. A year in the life of mayor is one of the hardest in game. I think we should be remembered somehow for a year of service. If only to cover the weekly donations we make which put most mayor starports to shame.

Statue would be nice maybe based on the mayor in server race. Otherwise a city facility would be nice because what makes Metropolis that have been there year stand out from the ones that have been there for just a few months. Even a title or badge (better not give them ideas) would just show that they care for all the hard work we are all putting into this profession. Its not like we get paid or recieve any personal gain from this profession.

Just the personal satifaction that where contributing to the great good and touching other peoples lifes by uniting playing into a community and helping to make the game experience more enjoyable.

I think I would like the Bestine Captital Building complete with Npcs that you can place where ever you like and text you can place for them to say much like venders have.

Either that or something easy to code such as your own Death watch bunker or Corvette entrence in the city. hehe anything that brings more people in and keeps them coming for more. A statue would be nice but its a one time thing. Look a staue. Ok seen it time to move on. Hehe

Maybe a choice such as a static faction base of either type or a capital building. dont know but I am sure we will get something. Hmm I shouldnt say sure so lets try hopefull.

STARPORTS!!!!!!!!!

We were told by the main programmers that this isn't going to happen in Player Cities due to the amount of coding it takes to even have the NPC starports active and working. So, sorry, gotta say "not gonna happen" to this one.

I don't mean to shut down people's dreams and hopes regarding player cities, but I do hope to keep people's expectations realistic in terms of what we can expect and what is definitely a "no".

I'm now Mayor of what was the first Player City on my server (Kauri). Would my city get a prize/reward after a year?

NO!

I'll tell you why. The person who was Mayor before me decided they no longer wanted to play this game. So I voluteered to be Mayor, I got the skill and asked people to vote for me. The city had a population of 60 people, but only 35 or so really log on with any regularity. What this meant was even though everyone wanted me to be the New Mayor we could not get enough people to vote for me in a week so that I could win an election, because their votes switched back to the original Mayor. Well after a month of trying this the original Mayorhad decided she would delete her character as it would take me months to become Mayor at this rate.

What happened you askk?

  1. Devs provide no way to transfer the City Hall to another Politician

  2. If you vote for a Politician that doesn't win, your vote then shifts back to the incubant/original politician (why does SOE get to change peoples minds for them?)

  3. The Devs associate the City Hall as the property of the Mayor (why? it belongs to the people)

3 Huge mistakes!

This leaves a Mayor with no way out? When she quit you would think that the only other Mayor running would win the election and get control of the city right?

WRONG!

We lost the City Hall, 4 million credits in it, all the furniture in it, since we lost the City Hall we lost the City Status, so we lost theShuttle Port, the Banks, the Parks and Gardens, the fountains, the statues, the Cloning Center,12 trainers, 12 mission terminals, and 25 Guild Members (they justdid not have the heart to start over again).

This was not the original Mayor fault. The devs gave her no tools to transfer control, period. The only thing she could do was keep paying them and not play. FIX THIS!

So, no; I'm not getting a prize. My City had to start over. The Devs would't even give us our Level 4 City status back. we had to start from scratch at level 1 as a new city. Funny how a player can delete a character and their silly insignificant house hangs around for months anoying everyone, yet a Mayor Deletes her character and the City Hall vanishes along with the city!

People who played the game for 11 months quit that day.

After all the reason stuff I have been dealing with, I think a special gift for any Mayor who has been Mayor of the same city for over a year, deserves some sort of reward. Expecially after all the BS I've had to deal with, I think that a Mayor who handles a city without destroying it in a year should go up for saint hood. (sigh)

My guess is nothing will happen, but Pappi would be our best hope for finding out about such.

I agree, it would be nice for our cities to receive some sort of recognition of having existed in the game for so long (our anniversary is 26th Nov). However the reality is that aside from the scavenger hunt way back when, player cities have received nothing, and the expectation is that we will receive nothing in the future.

And even if we did receive something, we'll probably regret having the additional cost to the cities maintenance bill .

After almost a year of player cities being in existence, the only new things are the amount of people now clamouring for them to be removed or at least scaled back drastically .

I was on the core systems forum and I can't believed the negativefeedbackplayer cities are getting on these forums. There is a check list saying what canwe do to improve the game, and a lotpeopleare saying nerf back the player cities.

I can see the ugly row of houses get's on peoples nerves. but I think something like a player city placed hotel would be a novel idea, a huge building multiple levels with24or so withapartmentswere each citizen canrent fora little cheaper than a small house but with the same storage. I can see the devs worring about a storage exploit in a massive building like this, but if they make it so that theperson that rents one of the rooms can admin, this wouldn't be a problem. Instead of a house burning if people don't pay there evicted with all items in theapartment destroyed. Kind of something cool I thought up

Initially my thought was to have Better specialisations availble to "mature" cities, but on second thoughs this would be a bad idea as it would make life difficult for the smaller newer cities.

A new building or civic structure is the way forward, a city enterance like a Triumphal Arch, i'm sure the models are ingame, Theed for example, so all that would need to be added is the schematics and resource usage ?
