Great Faq I really hope they raise the radius a bit more 80 people for a radius of 450 m seems pretty weak..

Using the common formula A=Pi*r^2.....

Tier 1 = 5 citizens =150 m radius = area of 70,684 m^2 = 14,137 m^2 per citizen

Tier 2 = 15 citizens = 200 m radius = area of 125,663 m^2 = 8,3777 m^2 per citizen

Tier 3 = 30 citizens = 300 m radius= area of 282,743 m^2 = 9,424 m^2 per citizen

Tier 4 = 50 citizens = 400 m radius = area of 502,654 m^2 = 10,053 m^2 per citizen

Tier 5 = 80 citizens = 450 m radius = area of 636,172 m^2 = 7,952 m^2 per citizen

From the above it seems Tier 1 by far gets the most room per citizen, which isn't necisarily bad, but tier 5 citizens (the biggest and best) get the least room by far, which in my book isnt right.... it should be atleast even with the other Tiers, if not more room since they are the bigger and better version.... I think tier 3 should jump up to 400 m radius, tier 4 500 m radius, and then tier 5 be 600 m radius.... would seem better to me... hopefully this will change.

What needs to be looked at is the space requirements for the NEXT city level, not to maintain.

Here's the space requirements to advance to the next level. Throw inthe City Hall, gardens, cantinas, Hospitals, cloning centers, banks, 'streets', Vendor tents. and we are going to have to do ALOT of planning to fit enough citizens in the radius to advance.

Tier 1 > Tier 2 = 15 citizens =150 m radius = area of 70,684 m^2 = 4,712m^2 per citizen

Tier 2 > Tier 3 =30 citizens = 200 m radius = area of 125,663 m^2 = 4,188m^2 per citizen

Tier 3 > Tier 4= 50 citizens = 300 m radius= area of 282,743 m^2 = 5,654m^2 per citizen

Tier 4 > Tier5= 80 citizens = 400 m radius = area of 502,654 m^2 = 6,283m^2 per citizen

I'm having a hard enough time fitting in the 15 citizens for lvl 2, I am having to make a whole new block of just small houses to accomidate. I didn't really want alot of houses right next to the City hall, but oh well.

Q: What are the benefits of being a citizen?
A: Those benefits vary from person to person. For some it will be the proximity of neighbors. For others the sense of being part of something bigger. Only the individual can really answer that question.

Q: Can you place theaters on TC yet?
A: There's currently a bug in theaters that I hope to see resolved soon.

Q: What's at the center of the radius?
A: City Hall

Q: Is there a fee the city receives from mission terminals or other city services?
A: Not at this time though that may change.

Q: After an election, who has control over city hall?
A: Only the new mayor.

Q: What if I don't vote in the election?
A: The incumbent mayor receives your vote by default.

Q: Can the mayor take money from the treasury?
A: Once a day, and only up to 50k. An email also goes out to all citizens telling them that the mayor has done so.

Q: My PA doesn't want to share. Do we have to?
A: Cities were designed to be new ways for large groups of people to interact. To have any services you're going to need a lot of people, usually much more than single PAs.

Q: Has anyone lost any Amo Ooda faction yet?
A: Several people. Scroll up.

Is it just me, or does the income tax sound like a bad thing?

If it's a percentage of my bank account - what if I didn't make any more money in the past week? Is it going to tax the credits I have that it already taxed last week? Essentially double dipping? If I sat still on that cash, the income tax would eventually take it all away, according to this.

The devs need to make sure it only taxes new income, or abolish the whole income tax concept entirely.

Is it just me, or does the income tax sound like a bad thing? Why do I envision it being implemented poorly?

"Income tax is based on a percentage of your bank account weekly."

Let's say I had 100k in my bank account, and the income tax came in and took a slice. Now, through the next week, I make no more credits, I just sit there. Is income tax going to come in and slice another piece of the pie off of credits that it already taxed last week?

If so, I really recommend that they abolish this concept, because that'd be double-dipping, and it's just not how income tax is done. You don't retax income just because it sat there after you already did the taxation. If left alone, without making new credits, this concept would end up whittling me away to nothing.

I'd recommend it actually only tax new credits made through the week, or abolish the whole income tax thing entirely. To tax my bank account on its amount on a weekly basis isn't income tax, it's "you live in a city, you must pay credits" -- which is already implemented in property tax.

Given that City Hall is a rather large building, this answer could bemore specific. Is it the front of City Hall? The center of City Hall? Or some terminal in City Hall?

If that is how it works that is horrible. Another sloppy implementation - it is easier to do it that way, but it is not good to do it that way.

This will probably be my last series of answers. After all there should be something left for others to discover.

Q: Are there detailed breakdowns of where the city gets its money?
A: No, you only see the treasury pool, not how much came from which tax source.

Q: Is there any word yet on when this is going to live servers?
A: Yes, there is.

Q: Will destroying a city hall destroy the city?
A: Yes.

Q: Can anyone place a merchant tent and declare it as a residence?
A: Only those with Efficiency IV can place a merchant tent.

Q: Do zoning rights cover only the current city radius or the full metropolis size?
A: Only the current radius.

Q: Are zoning rights just for commercial structures?
A: No, zoning rights are for any structure placed within city boundaries.

Q: Does one need faction to place a faction terminal?
A: No

Q: Will all cities be circular in nature?
A: Yes

Q: Who owns city property?
A: The city does. The mayor is simply the caretaker.

Q: Who pays maintenence on cantinas, hospitals, and theaters?
A: The player who places them.

Q: Can a person run for mayor in more than one city?
A: No, they must be a resident in the city they are running in.

Q: What is the lot size of a cantina?
A: It was seven, word is that it has been reduced to 6.

Q: What is the lot size of a medical center?
A: 3

Q: What abilities are granted at what ranks?
A: Some sense of discovery should be left for the player.

Q: Can only the mayor place city structures?
A: Yes

Q: Can you declare a city for a faction?
A: No

Q: Can a city be renamed?
A: Yes

Q: Must all residents be within the current city radius to expand?
A: yes

Q: Will Binary Load Lifters have anything to do with cities?
A: They make great pizza delivery droids

Q: Are skill points involved in the politician tree?
A: yes, it takes 77 to master.

Q: Can a faction recruiter be placed in a city?
A: Not at this time

Q: Can a Spynet Operative be placed in a city?
A: Not at this time

Q: Will city halls come pre-furnished?
A: No

This makes not sense at all. If what you want to happen were to happen, then the 16 million people in the New York area deserve to have the same 1/3 acre lot that I have in a small town out west. The bigger the city, the less room each person has!!!

Can we stop trying to make Star Wars perfectly equal, and realize that the game has a lot of connections with the way things actually work?? Someone stop the madness!!!

Q: Will faction bases be allowed in cities?
A: Here's what GreenMarine has to say on the subject: "We are probably going to make it so that you can fight back against militia...meaning its less of an issue and so we might allow faction bases near cities.

If so, you just have to expect that some players may use their unfactioned militia to help defend the faction base. That means attacking a faction base in a city would be more dangerous".

please confirm... are you saying that a current faction base ...that cannot be removed because the owner left swg... will NOT block placement of a city hall?

this is a very important question at this point.
