Thread: Our city was destroyed by our mayor :(
I think the CSR reps have a moderate amount of discretion. I don't know if they have THAT much discretion, but its always worth a shot.
Plinka: I think it would be good to raise this issue with the powers-that-be. Ask them:
1) to authorize/instruct CSRs to restore the lost rank of cities destroyed in this manner and perhaps to replace lost structures.
2) to remove the mayor's ability to destroy the City Hall unless the city falls below population 10 - the city should remain as long as it has at least 10 declared residents.
This is not a CSR matter. This is not a BUG. Live with it!
Mayors are responsible for the City Hall and do this if they choose. This has been public knowledge since Player Cities were on test and there were enough stories about Mayors doing this to make people choose their mayor carefully.
This is politics - you have to make sure that:
1. You choose to live in a city with a Mayor you can trust OR
2. You appoint a Mayor that you can trust to run the City you are building.
You did neither of these, and you are paying the price. I would suggest that you move to a new city, like mine in Darkfire,or start again, putting some proper thought into your choice of leadership.
This is NOT a bug.
This is NOT an exploit.
It has always been clearly stated that the mayor can do this... you guys just made a bad call. Sorry.
It is no different to real life - don't expect the game to do everything for you... you have to fix some stuff for yourselves.
Yours,
luckily we have a good mayor... but still.. there should be "alternative" ways to destroy a city hall.. not just a single person..
The devs alway state that it is the "will of the people" who elect them... so it should be the "will of the people" to destory it also...
at least the city hall.

Yours,
This is griefing, pure and simple. Griefing NEVER makes the game more enjoyable. Yes, its no different than in real life. In real life, someone could walk into my house tomorrow, pull out a gun, and kill me and my entire family. That doesn't mean that adding permadeath and unrestricted PvP would make for a better game.
SOE has made it a practice to design the game to prevent griefing. For example: getting rid of /citywarn because it was being used for griefing. For example: making it impossible kill people by ducking in and out of private residences. Its entirely reasonable to ask SOE to 1) prevent this form of griefing, and 2) offer remedies for people who have been griefed in this fashion. This doesn't mean they will - but its always worth asking.
And could you lose the size+5 red font? That form of screaming makes you look like a jerk.
And making stupid comments like that highlights how redundant your views are!

NO - you look like a jerk for taking what was a set of reasoned arguments and devaluing them by using insults. People like you should be banned from this boards - this thread, which was talking about something interesting, will not probably be closed due to your lack or manners and maturity.

The combination of a size+5 font, the red color, and the content can only be described as shouting/screaming. I'm all for discussion, but I take exception to being shouted at/screamed at. The bulk of my posting was a comment on the substance, not the form.
But, in the name of stopping what is about to become a really stupid flame-storm, I appologize for calling Havoclord a jerk; its not a constructive way of making my point - but please, refrain from the +5 font red stuff - it really does come across as screaming and that is hardly constructive, either.
Peace, ok?
In real life, people who do this type of thing get thrown in jail. I can pretty much guarantee if a mayor destroyed city hall and every civic structure in the townwithout the town's consent, they would be put in jail.
In this game he can stand there and laugh in your face and hurl insults at you right after he has wrecked the town.
Plus in this game there are no background checks, no criminal records, nothing really where you can truly judge the integrity on an individual.
It's up to SOE to police the matter, since the townsfolk have no means to pursue justice.
