Thread: Our city was destroyed by our mayor :(

Yes, I know what you're thinking, we shouldn't have voted him mayor. However I just don't think it's possible to determine from in game experiences the true nature of a person with full accuracy.

Our mayor got angry with one of our leaders of the guild. He never brought up any of the grievances with the rest of our council. When he abrubptly left the guild it came as a shock to me. I had just help him out building some lightposts for the city.

After his departure I asked him what was going to happen to the city? He told me he would do nothing and step aside. A few minutes later he removed the shuttleport and cloning center. I have never had an argument with this person and not a bad word was ever said. As far as in game experiences went he appeared to me to be decent. I wasn't even angry or anything when I talked with him, I just asked what was going on. He lied right to my face for no reason I can determine.

So now our town of 60 residents is left without a shuttle or cloning center which will take weeks to recover. All this because of one person. If this is not a grief than I don't know what is. All that we worked weeks for is gone, poof in an instant and without warning. I am just totally dumbfounded. I don't see any way one could avoid this situation, other than actually knowing a person in real life.

I talked with CSR Justin in the chat and he basically said it was our own fault for voting him mayor. Gee thanks for the help. Because we were unable to determine the mental stability of our mayor through in game interactions, we have to suffer is what it boils down to. So if I were truly a psychopath, I could pretend to be a nice person get voted for mayor and destroy a city, how nice indeed.

A sufficiently large city (yours, apparently if you have a shuttleport) should be able to get a new mayor to Fiscal II (shuttle) or Militia II (cloning) in one update.

Heck, if you have enough you *might* be able to do both.

I'd say your main concern is that the city hall doesn't go poof.

If your Imperial/Neutral and play on Starsider give me a tell. We can relocate you to Lok and promise that you will all be taken care of. We just ask that you support the current government and treat the other citizens with respect. We have all the civic structures, along with trainers, faction terms, and stronghold status.

What exactly would happen if they did destroy the city hall?

What would happen to the Cantina or Med Center?

Hi)

The cantina and theater would stay. They need city limits to be placed but to sustain.

If the city hall goes, then a bank, cloning center, or shuttle will go buh bye. I would assume terminals and trainers too. Cantina, hospital and theater will stay because they're player owned. I would assume the merchant tents would stay too.

Of course, without a city hall, you're no longer a city. So you'd have to get a new hall made and placed quickly.

If you're on Eclipse, I can toss you the power cores you need (not a lot, but something).

Our city is on Tarquinas and the city was Crystal Oasis on Dantooine. Thanks for the offers of assistance. We will try to rebuild the best we can.

File a report with the CSRs.

Destroying the City Hall in this manner is consider a griefing tactic, and action can and will be taken against the offending player's account.

Who knows, if you get a generous CSR, they might even help you replace it.

That's awful. Sorry to hear what happened.

I've said it before but no one should be able to destroy the city hall once placed. A city should only fall if you have no mayor for a set period of time or you have less than 10 citizens.

Hey,

I didnt' see you say that he took down the city hall, if its still up all you need is a new mayor. with 60 peeps he will have enough xp to buy fiscal 1 and 2 in the first week and place the shuttle, he can get the cloning center in the next week, or vice versa.

If you can't find a guild member to do it, don't be surprised its really not that much fun compared to work, I will start a character on your server and be your mayor.
