You guys have 2 choices...

1. buckle up for the mad, insane, raving mad, masses of people who will flame you guys relentlessly because they didn't get on in the first 12.65 seconds of the great land rush of 2003, missing their only chance to have a city... (Your morning coffee will ignite when you turn on the computer, the monitor glass will sag, etc...)

2. set up a lottery for the "Right" to plant a city. To get into the lottery,a person wouldneed to show a CSR a room, filled with all the materials needed to craft a deed, shouldthey "win". They need to be a PA leader, and they need to register 1 time, on behalf of the entire guild.

APA can have only 1 city in a Universe. In fact, if the PA spans multiple servers, they can still only have 1 city in the multiverse.

Not all cities are being planned by a PA.

First I thought plinka is suppsed to repersent the player views NOT his own sorry but this was never brought up so him posting a post agreeing with it is dead wrong .

They are supposed to repersent us Clearly this did not happen in this case

Second for the DEV's not to let this be know when there is no dout they knew long ago this was the desgin and limits is well speaks volumes for the lack of communcation with the playwer base just becase there are 25 DEv tracker post a day soes not mean there is communcations .So far I see 95% beating around the bush and no real answers just pure SOE spin as agasin in the case of thunders post in this thread

le'ls see what happneds and we will see what we can do .sorry but that just done cut it , SOE has been askig for patience for months on adding content spent good knows how many man hours programing this "content" and now its goignot be so limited that most will not be able to take part . Who was smoking what when this was thought of ?

this wrong the dev team at lest mislead the community about the limits and and info on such limits our Correspondent is wrong never brought this up and if he did not know then well there are more problems wit this whole system

Q post a poll and thread thousands responds but few can take part shame on SOE

unless this is changed I am suggestion to our 100 plus members time to look for a new Community to move to fool me once I can live with ,fool me twice shame on me but I will make dang sure you will NEVER get a third time .

for me and I know many this is a game killer

It is utterly infuriating that this is leaking out a day or so before the patch. We've been planning things for MONTHS. This has a MAJOR impact on our plans - as in 'mostly trashing them out'.

I have a funny feeling that in a moment of clarity, one of the Jolt-Cola-IV infused coders asked a senior dev, "Umm, how many people are planning to create a hall?"... the dev thought about it, and began to count... when he got to 100, he hit the big, red "HOUSTON - We Have a Problem..." alarm button on the wall & all hands went into a huddle to figure out what to do...

I'd like to take a moment to further explain the current situation.

There's currently a very real database limitation that says how many player cities that can exist at the momemt. This cap will be raised in the next publish but for now it's what we have to work with.

Given that, there are a couple of choices:

1. Release cities with a planetary cap
2. Don't release cities for another month.

...

Wait a month, and get it right.

Some options include:

Raise thebuffer between Player Cities and POI;

Increase/Lower the cost of maintainance on heavily/underpopulated populated worlds.

Rushing something doesn't it make it better. We all want cities. Let's do them right, they will be around a long time.

What I do not understand is that they say the player cities are limited by database limitations. But what exactly is so different with player cities versus all the thousands of normal structures we allready have on the planets? They have to be connected to a city, they have to withdraw maintenance from the city funds. And a few of them need to register with the planetary map (but some buildings allready do this today).

I do not see anything that should make the player city structures require much more storage than a regular structure so to me this db reason just seems like a cheap excuse.

The other issue (if not mentioned already)

It's really not fair to limit the number of cities if the mayor will be given the ability to block building. Otherwise, the mayor can just make sure that no one who will contest him will ever be allowed to build.

Tell me, Devs, just how long have you been pissing in the fountain of truth? There have been countless opportunities for you to tell us about this cap, not the least of which was during Q-3PO's post about "where will you place your player city?". It is pretty self evident that you have been conning us about this for quite some time. I, along with many, consider this a game-buster, not justbecause you are capping player cities at 10, though thats pretty bad. Its because you have now destroyed ALL TRUST that we may have ever had in you. Do you honestly think that any player will trust anything you say ever again after this? I know that I don't have it in me to believe you. You have just alienated a huge part of your player base. Congratulations.

EVERY GUILD IN THE WORLD WANTS A PLAYER CITY!

Has anyone asked what the city population minimum is? Is it possible that NO guild has enough members to make the PC population minimum?

Wow.. this is the biggest huddle of crybabies ever. "Let's not release the patch because I'm a crybaby and I want everything, but I don't want to have to work for it! WAH!"

Geez guys, get real. Player cities are supposed to be about competition. So you have a real life and you won't be able to get on exactly at patch time and make your city. So what? This game still tailors to your play style. You say you want it released in a month when ALL can throw cities down? Why not let the "powergamers" throw down their 10 cities and bug test them fully for a month when the devs can expand the database to allow MORE cities? Why be this way and say "If **I** can't have it, no one can!"? Honestly, reread what you're typing and tell me how you're any different from a power gamer. You want what you want and you want it now. They just have the time to make it a reality.

I know I plan on waking early and putting down our city hall on the initial patch. The fact that our city can be 1 of 10 on planet means there's a deffinate level of excitement to it. If we don't get ours down, then we'll hold tight till the database is updated to allow more. You'll get over it, too. I fully hope the devs release it like this just so we can hear you whine some more! HAHAHAHA!

..For me, I can not stand this community, and the hostile, petty player base that moans and threatens in every single instance. I've never seen such a unwarranted hostile player base, nor amore uneducated/uninformed one.

I sure wish there were 2 message boards, one for the current batch perusing this, and another for the other 312,000 happy players, so I could move over and at least get my developer information without having to correct lie after lie, and one uneducated design suggestion after another.

There are valid, developmental reasons things -must- be done with caps, limits, and cautions. This is a design mandate. You cannot develop limitless then scale back. You develop small and open the scaling. Design 101. Forget that, it's Design 001. But of course, 99 percent of you have no development experience, and the 1 percent who does hasn't worked on design systems of such a magnitude, and thus have to understanding of the why? Only the "why me?"

Why can't this community try this? Upon finding something like this out, start a polite thread and say, "I have understood there are caps in place for the initial release of player cities. Could you please explain this in further detail prior to the release of them, and indicate how you envision everyone getting a chance to participate in city building?" Wow! Look at that!!! I didn't threaten the firstborn of a developer nor did I attack the player correspondant who helps your profession out. I did not use a mean or nasty tone and was able to ask everything I need to know in a sentence! How simple...and civilzed.

Normally when you say "I'm playing another game because..." people tell you if you don't like it leave. Well, in my case, since I like the game butcan't stand it right now because of the majority of the people I run into ... I'll wait for them to leave, as I'm sure they will to satiate their selfishness.

What I am shocked at is that no one got that they would need to be limited. I expected it ot be 6 player cities on a starting planet, I am surprized it is as high as 10.

Of course they are limited, last thing this game needs is 100 shuttle ports on a planet, what a joke that would be. I think 25 is way too many actually.
