Thread: News Flash: Planetary Caps Leaked

This is great news, this will help deter people from having private personal cities ( which is a very good thing ) fewer cities means that PA's will be hard pressed to retain control as more and more people move in to the limited number of them.
Great news! This will help player cities feel more real. I love it!
Besides, 10 more cities on Naboo than already exist sounds like a whole lot to me.
No. All it will do is allow people with personal cities to block real cities from forming.... If you are planning on only have a level 1 player city, once you have your 5 citizens you can block anyone else from joining that city...
Imagine if the first 10 cities on naboo are all placed by a group ofa few people with multiple accounts who then go about auctioning off the right to their city hall? Or what if all the cities are merely suburbs of the main cities? Wow great,10 newshuttle ports all within1km of Theed!
We have been waiting to create our city for a very, very long time. Some of our members' only reason for continuing to play was the anticipation of cities.
This is what we could have been:

I wonder if we will actually become that.
OOps ... reposting our link - it's changed ![]()

Of course it is a good thing, I was worreid that they would not limit cities at all.
Anyone can be involved in a player city, you dont have to start one to be involved. Limited cities will tend to make player cities larger and more dificult for PA's to control. The problem with this thread is it seems like everyone wanted thier own private player city, that wasnt going to happen anyway.
Fewer cities means more player involvment in each city. A politicician does NOT have to be elected mayor to gain experience, he just has to recieve votes.
The last thing I would want to see is Naboo just dotted with tiny player cities, that would be just making player cities an extention of PA's, that is what we DONT want. We want player cities to evolve, for control of them to shift, no one should ever OWN a player city, it is owned by the entire population that lives there.
Ah, if I don't get logged on in time due to server instabilities, and fail to get in in time to geta City Hall built and placed on Corellia, then I'll be leaving the game. Sorry, this is too big a deal to let slide. I'm not going to face my PA and tell them we can't build the City that we've already got in all but name. No way.
Bad enough that we couldn't be a PA in SWG without a PA Hall, but we busted our butts in July and got that done. Now this?
I'm almost always on the side of the dev's. Not this time, tho.
But
Well sorry to disagree with you and SOE's "vision" of what cities should be, but my PA, and probably most other PA folks who are posting on this board want to control their own city. Because they are the ones putting the work in to make it happen. It's not ownership for domination, but ownership for pride and accomplishment. No only has my PA been setting up our layout and moving, but we've set how we're going to tax and attract people to come through our city. It's more than just a set of buildings. It's a whole plan we have that WE want to see put in place. Which is why we want an equal chance of putting up a city, not having to race to get one on and then pray we can keep control of it.

HA!
I KNEW IT
Back when the city plans were first laid out, I did some rough math and posted the information that there would be a heck of a lot less possible cities then there were PA halls...
I was promptly shushed up and 1 starred by the sanctamonious few....

Even more than being an example of poor development (which in some ways I think this is) it's an example of poor communication between the dev's and players. Database limitations, server limitations, fine. Communicate it. What could possibly be the point of allowing players to go to all the work (like my small guild has) of picking out a spot, moving all of our homes and items out there, placing our PA hall, trying to recruit a politician, and going off on power-missions trying to get all the funds together in time for our city hall, only to inform us AFTER the fact that it was likely all for nothing?
Bad development. Even worse communication.
Ok, how is this even needed???? The 1k building rule prevents there from being too many PC's. Plinka please make them revoke this, on Tat in corb i knowoff 7 large groups(+those i donr know)planning on a PC that donr overlap at all, this can get out of hand quick, because 10 wouldnt come close to overlapping even with previous cities and poi's.

Not if there is no room in/around the few cities that are created for you to place a house. And if they don't expand the reach of the main cities, they limit how many people can join into cities even more. With only 30 cities on the actual planets my character can survive on, there are only 30 general spots that I can place a house and be involved in a city. If all those spots are taken up, and those spots are going to be pretty darn small to start with, then there is no way i can take part in one of those cities. If those cities grow larger, I get to fight other players to try and get into them, but if they don't grow, I won't get into any city.
Well this is very Dissapointing. I have given up over 500k of exp to become a politician and be they mayor for our town. Releasing this kind of information after Q-3po ask and i quote" So where will you be dropping your player city" I feel lied to and think this decision really needs to be thought out. Besdies my self im sure other have done this, we BKB just moved 120 house and relocated our whole town just for the patch PLAYER CITIES! I am sure we all feel SCREWED right now and lets hope SWG see how important this was to its players. Thunder, boy sorry to be you right now, nothing against your post but OMG have to be freekin kidding

Ya know, I've stood by this game since right after launch. In fact, I just changed to a 3 month plan instead of 1 month. I've chided other people for rattling sabres. I've dealt with the crap being a chef and DE and have told others to be patient while bugs are being fixed (like the completely broken death system) and features are being added.
Like many other folk in this thread...my friends and I have the foundations for our city laid out already.
If we can't place it because of this cap, that may just push me over the edge.
Thanks...you've turned me into the whiny player that I've grown to despise. ![]()
