Maybe people are missing part of my point... I want to see people with DIFFERENT guns. I hate seeing DX2's and Geo Blasters all over the place. They revamped armor so you can basically get the same stats on any look within that armor class. All recon armors are the same thing with a different look. That is what I want. I want to be able to use SL or Smuggler pistols not for their damage, but because they are NOT the normal DX2 or Geo Blaster!!! And stop saying "pick up the certs" because it is imposible for a pistoleer to be certified for all of the non-commando and non-bountyhunter pistols. As the game stands, it takes 92 extra skill points to pick up the ONE certification for the CM pistol. For someone who just wants to look of the gun, that is expensive as hell. The SL pistol is about the same price. Master Marksman for the DL44 XT or whatever is another 63 skill points again for just one certification.

I am asking for constructive ideas on how we can maybe change how damage is calculated off the gun in order for a pistoleer to use all pistols, rifleman to use all rifles, carbineer use all carbines, etc. for aesthetic value.

I belive that having the certs in different professions will drive the very diversity that you are asking for.

Most combatants will pick up at least two combat professions, one primary and then something that complements it. What they have done by adding pistol certs to other professions is give Pistoleer the most diversity of any combat profession. We have the most options for a secondary support profession.

If a pistoleer was able to use any pistol in the game, then picking up a support profession that complements pistoleer would not be as appealing. mine as well be a Muscian/Pistoleer they would get to use the same weapons as a Smuggler/Pistoleer in your option. I would think that someone who picks up two combat professions should have more abilities than those who only choose one.

For example,

If a Master Pistoleer was able to use any pistol in the game, then they would use what they believe has the best stats and looks the best. Which if you follow the posts in this forum, it appears to be the Intimidator. This sounds like just the opposite of what you are asking for.

But, if the certs stay the way they are proposed, Smugglers will be using the Renegade, SL's will be using the intimidator, etc. this sounds like what you are asking for.

I don't believe that their will be many, if any, Smugglers, SL's, or CM's that do not have Pistoleer as well. Because they complement each other very well.

I may be wrong, but what I am hearing from your statements is that you want to have the maximum amount of versatility with minimal skill point usage.

exactly! Having different professions with the different pistols will definately drive diversity that the previous poster is looking for. Smugglers, squad leaders and combat medics all spend more skill points than pistoleers do, why not have something unique for them? Pistoleers alone will have alot of different pistols to choose from. Heck, there are atleast 2 tier 4 certs and atleast 2 master level certs. You will have plenty of diversity to choose from. Wanting all the pistol certs just for the look seems a bit silly. If I were a riflemen and wanted to be able to use the LLC, I'd go pickup BH. I wouldn't be demanding them give the cert to me just because I like the way it looks. It just seems really petty.

So would it be kay for Smugglers to demand ownership of all smuggling, being the only players allowed to carry contraband from planet to planet?

Or Squad Leaders to demand that they and only they can form and lead groups?

Of course not.

God knows there's enough in the game to complain about without resorting to absurd demands like this. This thread is garbage.

We're already crowd control... the bottom of the combat destruction fun. We're not getting duel wielding. Master Pistoleer has no real big rewards. We've already delt with being one of the weakest professions... why not give us a break for once?

I was looking through the skill tree and am sad that pistoleers get the boot when it comes to the new weapons that they came out with. It shouldn't matter, if it is a pistol, why wouldn't a pistoleer be able to use it?

You figure, you see a pistol and you should have the training to be able to fire it.

Very true. Since SL takes more SP and more Pistol xp and combat xpthan pistoleer it should be getting the DL-44 XT as well.

Yes, but then again SL has many other abilities that pistoleer does not, so using said pistol they would still have a slight advantage.

Depending on what happens with SL, possibly. Doesn't make much difference to me. I've been MP/MSL forever. Probably drop medic now and add some carbineer because SL gets a new carbine too.

I used to have the same attitude that Pistoleer should get certed with all pistols. I changed my mind about it though. Different people train with different stuff. In the end the devs are matching power up by box pretty much. So if a BH gets a master level gun a SL gets a master level gun and pistoleer gets a master level gun they will all be pretty much the same power level. Different skins, but that's just cosmetic.

Plus I intend to pwn vanilla pistoleers with my uber Intimidator.

Why not make the alliance and intimadator pistols faction certed instead of skill. The alliance pistol is a rebel weapon atlest by it's name, and the intimadator looks rather imperial to me.

While I like the idea of SL and CM getting their own weapons, but these two pistol seem rather more of a faction thing.

I,as an imperial CM,don't want to be running around with an alliance disruptor, that would look rather odd don't you think?

This is true, but then they'd have to do the same with the republic Blaster

They should just take all the pistols that aren't pistoleer cert-ed yet and just double cert them, then no one can complain becasue everyone gets what they want. No weapons taken away or anything like that.
