AP1 + energy + does NOT look "starwarsy" at all = crappy weapon IMHO

However, I will stick with Master Pistoleer at least until the combat revamp...till then I'll just spam all my BH Pistol attacks using a multi-million credit Geo pistol...it's a shame what we have to go through to be decent in PvP

too bad, was hoping for cold. Doest seem too fit into my scheme of krayted pvp pistols.

Yeah JP I was hoping for cold damage type too. Would be cool for something other than SG82 rifle to have cold.

It's really good that only master pistoleers can use it but somebody please explain to me why the weakest ranged combat class gets the most expensive guns... i just don't get it.

Yeah dude the republic blaster is one of our better guns but it sure is guly. Looks like a baby bottle with grip. At least it does not look like a hair dryer like the scatter pistol does though

I don't know if it's quite fair to list things in that manner. You also need to take into account how the weaponis supposed to be fired. Pistoleers have a max accuracy bonus of 110 at any one time, at least going by the skills (kneeling and prone may offer higher bonuses, but our proximity to mobs and need for movement negate these). The rifleman, however, has 50 accuracy above that, plus 10 while moving. It remains to be seen whether rifles have a higher inherent penalty when moving than pistols do. If so, then this +10 while moving may not be worth that much.

What should happen is take rifle accuracy down to +95, then give riflemen a +65 Rifle Accuracy while prone modifier, since this is the state rifleman is meant to be in most of the time.

The defenses are a different matter. Overall it's inherently easier to hit a pistoleer than a rifleman due to the differences in the profession. Riflemen are most likely at a long distance, prone, and possibly under cover. Pistoleers are right there in your face. Pistoleers are usually in melee range of mobs, so a higher melee defense is necessary, and riflemen are most likely getting shot at or hit with ranged "spit" attacks, justifying their higher ranged defense. However, the discrepancies between these two sorely need to be looked at. Either the pistoleer's defense both need to be jacked up a good amount or the rifleman'smelee defense needs to come down a bit, and the pistoleer's ranged defense taken up. The second option is most likely, astaking themelee defense up too much higher on the pistoleer will start to infringe on the grounds of the melee professions.

The defense vs. state effects signify our purpose as close-in fighters.

The most common argument I hear from riflemen is "we're not meant to be only snipers." Perhaps not, but that is the rifleman's major function, as evidenced by the Defense vs. Posture change (Up) modifier and the slow base speed of the weaponry. Assault rifles should be the domain of the commando (since the SW equivalent of the SMG is the domain of the carbineer).

Again, what this all comes down to is a vague "role" the developers have in mind for the pistoleer.

good points but you failed to highlight our biggest problem . against an opponent who is wearing good stun layered armor , buffed and using food we simply cant inflict enough damage to win fights ( especially if your opponent has novice medic ) . even if i hit my target 9/10 times our raw damage output is nowhere near sufficient unless i have uber dot weapons and atleast +16 pistol speed tapes .

dont get me wrong , i win way more pvp encounters then i lose but that is more to do with the fact that i am usually better prepared or that my opponent does not know how to play his profession . simply put an equally well equipped and skilled rifleman or carbineer is far better to a pistoleer .

What I don't understand is why the developers are so concerned about "watering down" damage types and yet are perfectly comfortable in making pistoleer weapons bland and redundent. I don't buy their argument at all, NO harm will come to PVP/PVE if we get a cold damage pistol.

You already have a pretty good stun pistol.

And you think the DE-10 is going to be any different?

God, if I hear one more thing about development being linked to a Combat Balance that may never happen, I'm going to ........... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ........

The developers' stance is that they don't want damage types to become watered down, and that an AP2 pistol doesn't fit well with our role.

At least now it's official and I know my role: doormat
