Um no. It was posted because an NONnamed NPC OWNED someone.Former = latter ^
no it's not. being owned and just being killed are two different things. Perhaps I should explain that.
I define being owned ad being one or two shotted.
I have been killed by an NPC before and it's not a big deal. You (and everyone else who thinks I am mad just because I died) are missing the point. I would type it again, but I've typed it like 5 times already. You just need to read AND comprehend.

hehe now CH and Pistoleer is another story. I did not have a built-in tank... or 2... or three

who said anything about not being able to kill a dark jedi master? THOSE NPCs should own me every time.
[snip] If it's got 10k or 12k HAM, some resists, a good pistol (or whatever weapon he PWNED you with), and some specials, he can kill you all day long. I've never heard anything about non-named NPC's being easy to kill. We're not talking meatlumps on correlia. This is Lok. The only way you should be able to kill him without buffs and armor is the pu$$y way: 64m healthshot 1, healthshot2, /peace, run 99m away, let him come you to after he's bled a little bit, spam most powerful shot while kiting and hoping that he gets stuck on a harvester. No need to get hostile, man. You sound like those 13 year old UB3R template L33T PvP'ers that cry every time you manage to kill them. Get over it.
We're not talking about being "easy" to kill. We're talking about being totally "PWNED." Who cares if they're non-named? Well lots of people do. Being weaker than cannon fodder is pretty bad.
And as for the "pu$$y" way to kill something. I think getting buffed to the max and wearing all the armor you can is the "pu$$y" way to kill something. People solo the tusken fort before they're even a pistoleer with all that.
I'm not 13. I'm not an "UB3R template L33T PVP'er(s)," if I were, I would be something other than just a pistol guy. I wouldn't need to "get hostile" if people would just read the post and understand it.
So tell me this. Are you happy that lackies can own you? These people are just grunts. I am supposed to be the best of the best with pistols.
Am I the only one who sees how wrong that is?
PS I'm not much of a PVP'er anyway.

Sounds to me like you stumbled upon someone's BH mark... arent they yellow-dot, red-con and attackable by anyone now? I've seen them kill MBHs in 3 or 4 shots.
This has happened to me more than once. It's possible, but I doubt I'm that unlucky.
WookieOgre wrote: If it has medium armor or more than 15k ham, you better be buffed or a Rifleman/CM lol.
And that's just wrong. People are telling me that they (with one stopping shot) can one-shot me, but I should just accept the fact that I can't one-shot them? I know it's not supposed to be easy. I've said this like 40 times now (an exaggeration). But this shouldn't happen.

wrongo. I am a paying customer who is supposed to be playing the greatest story ever told.... mine. When I first started playing the game, I was under the imperession you could make your self ledgendary. Maybe not like Han or Boba Fett, but at least beable to kick some stormtrooper's butt. Common.Well, that's advertising for you. I think by "Greatest story ever told...yours", they simply meant you could shape your own destiny in this game. If you took them literally, then that's thousands of people with the greatest story ever told, but only one person can have the GREATEST
Sort of like Red Bull....They say on the commercial that "It gives you wings". And drinking a can of that stuff and jumping out the second story window proved that it does NOT give me wings.
No kidding, but I should beable to take, at will, ANY non named NPC one on one. After all. I AM a master at pistols + BH pistol spec 2.
And reb bull does "give you wings" but only as a metaphore. Even if it's not the "greatest story ever told." Right now, I wouldn't even read a book on my guy. The tagline would go something like this. "You remember all those storme troopers that die so easilly in all the books and movies you've ever read or seen? Well this guy get's his butt kicked by just one of them!"
Well I take it back, I might read it if it were a comedy or a scarcastic book.

Yes... I would like them to be a challenge if I'm unbuffed and unarmored (which I am most of the time). I agree with the notion that there should be things I should run away from, but at master level, it should not be measley mercs and stormtroopers.
RylanStorm wrote:Name one MMORPG where you wont get owned by an unnamed mob in top level zones? You aren't supposed be able to kill this mob...it's a red con to indicate you might not find these mob easy. End of story. We really dont have time to discuss this in front of a committee.
top level mobs and stormtroopers are 2 different things. In DAoC, this would be like a guard taking a level 50 hunter one on one. Not only a level 50, but one who's been PvPing for awhile as well. In THAT game a town guard would get owed by a level 50. The guards at the gates to the realms are tough for some level 50s. In other MMORPGs you are fighting mostly creatures. The ones that the top most levels can't own are dragons and giants and what not.
The point (again) is that these people shouldn't be more than any player can be. There ARE some NPCs that should beable to be more than any one player. Nym comes to mind, but you can't attack him anyway, or Jedi. This area of Lok is not a "top level zone." The creatures around here were light blue and blue to me. Lok itself is a "midrange" planet like dantoonie (nothing has owned me there yet except for Jedi who are not included in this because they're SUPPOSED to own people.).

yes but they shouldn't be no-name lackies like stormtroopers or mercs (at master level).

We all understand your point, but who cares if they don't have a name!!! It doesn't make them just weak lackeys. Why would not having a name that you can see make them any easier than someone with a name? You don't have a name in their eyes, why should you be able to own them? Most of these high-ham NPC's are masters of a combat profession, and a lot of them are masters of a ranged and melee class. They're not justdumb "lackeys" because they don't have a name above their heads. All the little green-con technicians and commandos in the Yavin outposts have names, does that mean they should be a lot harder? And you really expect to one-shot a 10k HAM mob? He can one-shot you because he's using the same specials that do,he's doing thesame damage as you, and your ham is probably 1k. You can't one-shot him because his ham is 10k. You can nine or ten-shot him if you want. Basically, you got owned because of chance of events. NPC's don't spam specials like we do. It's basically on a random roll for them. The majority of thier shots will be auto-fire attack. Then, every 5 or 6 shots or so, they will probably shoot a special. Your "lackey" just so happened to shoot more specials than usual, and you probably got a couple of bad dodge rolls so he hit you with his specials and owned you in one or two shots. You would probably be able to kill this guy on an average day with average rolls, but this time the rolls simply weren't in your favor. Maybe you should start a petition to SOE to change all the non-named NPC's to have lower HAM and not be able to use specials. I'm still not sure where the idea of "non-named NPC's being weaker" came from, but hopefully you can pick up the pieces of your life and move on after this tragic event.

Because stormtroopers and Mercs by definition are lackies. They're not elite anything. _I_ am a master of an elite profession plus some! Therefor there should be NO WAY some lacky should kill me with one or two shots.
So apparently you still don't get the point. Or you like having some lackies being as powerful as you at a master combat profession.
Mercs = solier for hire AKA lackies, dorks to do your dirty deeds, not compairable to someone who's "the best of the best"
stormtrooper = colned cannon fodder, so maybe a carbineer.
I doubt these stormtroopers worked up to a master carbineer or were cloned that way. In Episode II, they had to be trained just like everyone else.
The poit is still, these should NOT be more powerful than me or any other combat master. The point is not, "these people should be weak." Or, "I should own them."
PS your scarcasm about my life just shows your immaturity as a person. I'm just a little upset that I'm paying $15 dollars a month to play a guy who can be owned by some jerk stormtrooper or merc.

Like I said, you got a few unlucky rolls. Let's say these "lackeys" aren't masters of anything. All they need is Pistoleer 0030 to one-shot you with stoppingshot. Basically, you want to be able to use high powered shots on them but you don't want them to use the same shots on you. If there are agro NPC mobs with little enough hamp for a PC to one-shot them, then they shouldn't be on Lok or any other of the adventure planets. But, start your petition to the devs to lower the HAM of these so called "lackeys" on high level planets and see what you come up with. God bless.
