my character's cert list says I'm certified, the gun's examination screen says I'm not certified, and when I equip it I don't get any messages at all.

I'm a Human Pistoleer. Started Day Two of release (many of you will recall that Day One was a nightmare, couldn't even get the servers to load) on Talus. My starting profession was Scout, not Marksman. I don't recall if I had the certification at creation or not, but I definately noticed it not too long after taking up Marksman (day 3 or 4 of release).

I can't believe how great this gun is. I think it's because it's AP1. it actually gets more accurate the greater the distance so i know the riflewomen are going to cry about it. prone against a base I had a +11 modifier at 63m.

The cert for the republic blaster comes before you get a cert for a FWG5. Can't remember exactly where in the tree it is.

Tried mine today again.... "you lack the proper skills to use this" message again.

This is crap if I now have to go out and buy a newly crafted weapon to get one that works.

Exactly. I think it is unreasonable for us to have to buy a new weapon simply because they just now patched the blaster in...

The problem with the cert is it isnt in ANY of the trees. I checked all of the combat trees. I even looked in trees that were only sort of related like scout and combat medic. Hell i even checked the tka tree. The cert is nowhere to be found, and those that have the cert already seem to be random. I would like an official word from the developers on where and how the cert is granted, and why older weapons would not work now. I can't submit any csr tickets because the csr server seems to be down. I am still waiting for a reply to the ticket I submitted earlier. I will post the information as soon as I get it.

My Zabrak started as Marksman on Corellia, Tyrena - No Cert on skills page.

Wookie Brawler, started on Naboo- not one box of Marksman or any other ranged skills- has the cert.

The first char was made when the game came out, the 2nd char was just created with "this" patch was on TC. So newer characters might get it, and maybe it just doesn't show up on "old" characters that didn't have it. It can't be tied to faction since my first character who's rebel doesn't have it and my 2nd is neutral and has it.

And seemingly it isn't even tied to Marksman, since my Brawler has it...*shrug* strange. Something is up with this cert, why would such a powerful pistol be given to every single character? Hell, why would it be given to a BRAWLER?

I can't really find any new blasters on Tarq yet to see if the cert just doesn't show on my Pistoleer character.

I find it rather interesting that the patch message mentions the certification being fixed under the CONTENT section. This leads me to believe there is a quest for the certification. If that's true, then it's rather disappointing that anyone can get this blaster and use it. It should be a pistoleer skill, and a high one at that.

Now if their intention is in keeping with Star Wars lore and keeping in line with the movies, then you would need to be some kind of member of the Royal Security Forces; Queen Amidala uses one in Episode 1 as well as Captain Tanaka. This might lead us to believe you have to be nabooian to use it, however as some have stated in this thread they started on naboo, as did I and I still don't have the cert, nor does my gun say I have the cert and indeed I get the message stating damage will be greatly reduced.

My csr ticket still hasn't been answered either. Anyone else have any luck figuring this out yet?

To my knowledge there's no quest for the certification since I never did it and yet, I have the certification. However, I do have slightly negative RSF faction and I started on Naboo (Keren) back in the days when everyone was a newbie.

That said, the republic blaster more than makes up for the FWG5 nerf. I have an AP1 gun with rock solid accuracy. The damage variance is like the FWG5 -- 50-60 min damage with 200ish max damage. Except it's +0 to accuracy at 64m instaed of -70 for the FWG5 and -90 for the DX2.

TodayI sold a prototype to a customer that wanted to try it out (I had heard cert was fixed but was not sure). He said it worked great. I made another and tried it out with my slicer, Lonelan. He shows the cert listed in his cert box. I don't show the cert listed in my cert box. Upon equipping both of us got no message of any sort. We both tried it out on afew mobs firing from our mounts and it seemed to work great. I made a really nice schem tonight and am burning the handlers to make them tomorrow.

I made myself one the other day and it works fine for me. I do have the cert, though I dont see it anywhere in any skill tree. Im marksmen 0 4 0 0, pistoleer 0 0 4 1.

I like my Republic Blaster. Pikets and all the Piket variants do not, however, like my new gun.

I have to say that a lot of people are missing some of the vital information in this thread.

There are several people that DO NOT have the certification for this blaster. Not only that, but those that do have a republic blaster pre-patch even if they do thave the cert, their blasters do not work....

So the problem is:

1) why do some have the cert and others do not (including myself on ahazi)

3) why do post-patch blasters work, and pre-patch blasters do not.

This is a serious issue for a number of reasons. Basically anyone starting the game from here on out has access to the best pistol in the game regardless of their pistol skill, and those that started when the game came out may or may not have the skill at all. I want to not that I am not whining and comparing other skills, I am simply stating facts. I have been playing since the start of beta 3, and I have NEVER had the republic blaster cert. I want to know why some have the cert and others do not, and why they didn't put the blaster in teh pistoleer tree where it belongs.

It's zabraks that don't have the cert..(i think)
