Some testing done by Nifty showed that it's a reduction in max damage, say a cl84 mob... if you put enough defence debuffs on you can bring it down to a cl80 mob defence wise and do more damage.
In PvP it should be the same, but there we know the ranged accuracy and ranged defence mods.
Say you have 200 ranged accuracy and shoot at a player with 500 ranged defence, you'll get a cut in max damage.
Thats how I understand it anyway. I could be wrong.
in PvP, against defense stackers and master defender jedi, you are going to hit for your min damage, or dange close to it, keep that in mind.
Many jedi have died at my hand to bring you that data.

I have recently heard rumor that when using a high enough level of enhancer (Krayt Tissue or Gorax Bone Shard), it is possible ot naturally hit the max cap dmg w/o needing to spend *any* experimentation on it. I have personally sliced at least one carbine that was already capped on *all-three* stats (Dmg, Spd, SAC) for Crit (broken though it may be).
The person I was working with would not divulge any data on the stats of the enhancers used, and I stupidly forgot to write down the maker for later harrasment... er... questioning.
Anyone know what level range of enhancer would achieve an un-experimented capped dmg?
As all rumors go, this could be all malarkey, though that carbine was very real.

You would be looking at 200+ Tissues/Shards for damage. The rest looks like an exploit, you can't cap speed, SAC and Damage before slice. If you can get me some names I can have it investigated.
Incidentally, did pre-existing Krayt Tissues get converted during CU? The currently dropping batchs seem to trade off damage for speed, but I distinctly recall seeing high damage krayt tissues pre CU with speed mods in the -1.3 range (the +149 tissues I used in my pre-cu de-10, for example). If they did not see a balance pass in their owner's inventories, that would be the only method I could envision for "leagally" capping or near-capping Damage *and* Speed on enhancers alone...
Those tissues would be long-gone by now, or worth 9-digits, easy.
I went out and spent 2 mill on what i thought was an incredible Gorax enhanced FW FWG5 .
Ive got 373 base DPS on it and have a very high dmg output. Not thinking about SAC though its pretty much useless (101 SAC). Thinking about selling it for a serious loss of money and an ADK to replace the 1 I have on it. I will concentrate more on SAC rather than spd on my next purchase. Or even better yet, find my own gorax shards and hope a master weaponsmith will craft 1 for me for alot less money.
Thx Again,

what is the max damage cap on FWG5's? I thought it was 948, but I guess I was wrong...
nm, I found out that it's the featherweights that are different. They have up to 967 max damage
