Thread: DEVs Pistoleers can't use Scatter Pistol, why not?
Geesh, I never knew that Pistoleers were such a bunch of crybabies. If you look at their skill sets, you'll probably see a whiner=+100 skill mod. Each line has it's own unique weapons that they have access to. If you want scatter, get Novice BH. What's the problem? I totally disagree that a Pistoleer should have access to all pistols. I have Master Marksman, so does that mean I have access to ALL weapons? I mean, come on, how hard is it to pull a trigger? The answer is that it is easy to pull a trigger and a Pistoleer can use the scatter, just not well. You don't have the training for it, but instead you get other areas of training.
These are the basic principles of the professions, so either you chose the wrong profession, or you don't understand the concept. Either way, I think you whiner skill mod needs to be nerfed!

Because u are a Pistoleer and not a BH, therefore we get the drek end of the stick cos Bounty Hunters are the privileged children in the game, no matter how many points they whine that they spent in protest.
Scatter Pistols are illegal? See my thread about the history of the DX-2. On over 1000 worlds, POSESSION of a Tenloss DX-2 or DXR-6 carries the death penalty. In the course of my research, I learned that the DX-2 is usually carried by bounty hunters that want to have the notoriety of having such an infamous weapon. Hey. Here's an idea. Since it fits the continuity better, and Bounty Hunters seem to care more about their reputation, (at least in the novels they do. A milquetoast rep means no biz, after all.) how about an even swap? Your Scatter Pistol for the DX-2?
No there's not anything keeping me from using a scatter pistol if I wanna. As a matter of fact, the last time I was on, I picked one up with a launcher pistol as well. Using both, a stinking diseased VRELT owned me while I fired manically at it with the pistols I ought to be able to fire with at least the facility of a novice marksman. As it was, I had to switch to keep from being incapped cos when *I* fire a scatter or a launcher, I do no damage.
As for beating the dead horse, for my own part, I will not stop because it's a matter of principle. A Pistoleer's primary function is to be able to fire accurately with a pistol. That's all pistoleers do. We don't hunt people down with droids. We don't use carbines too. We don't learn how to incap or kill people like Bounty Hunters do. We've got ONE thing that we do. And ONE weapon to do it with once we get to Pistoleer. And great frelling maker, if we concentrate our abilities that much, we ought to be able to do it better than any jack of all frelling trades.
So yeah. If I'm supposed to be able to use pistols well and pistols only. Then you better believe that I think I ought to be able to do the one thing my class does with it's chosen weapon with any frelling pistol I lay my hands to. Otherwise, when I make master Pistoleer, I really won't be a master pistoleer will I cos I can still pick up a scatter PISTOL or a tangler PISTOL or a launcher PISTOL and shoot like I just fell off the imperial shuttle.
It's not whining, StriferSidira. It's actually a reasonable request. And I really don't see how our getting a scatter pistol is going to make your class any weaker, other than putting a weapon that actually WORKS in our hands. Why are you threatened by the idea? And I hate to tell you, Chumley, but I really doubt your eyeshot nerf (If nerf it was...) came from the pistoleers alone. Just look at how the Riflemen are carrying on about Bounty Hunters and Pistoleers and pretty much anyone that ISN'T a Rifleman nowadays. I hope you aim your scatter better than you aim your ire.
As for the solution of becoming a dabbler if I want a weapon I should be able to use anyway? Give up dancing so I can spend all those points on useless frelling scout skills? Fekt! It's the principle of the thing. A Master Pistoleer should be a MASTER at using PISTOLS. No one wants to take your gun away from you. We just feel that by all rights and meanings of the title we carry, it's insulting that there's a Pistol that a Master Pistoleer can get killed trying to use cos he can't fire it worth drek. I said it before. It's the ONE thing we do. The least we can ask is that we be able to do it properly.
And I will NEVER become a Bounty Hunter precisely BECAUSE I don't want to be in the midst of what's more than likely the most child heavy profession in the game. Think about it a moment. Kids are going to want to be something cool. They're not going to get to be a Jedi like Obi-Wan or Maul. So what's the next thing they're going to go for? They're going to want to be Jango or Boba and be a Bounty Hunter. And what do kids do when they don't get their way? They ask for handicaps and whine. Sounds like the Bounty Hunters that like to troll the Pistoleer boards to me. Tell you what. Go to your board and start an age check thread. You may be unpleasantly surprised.
As for Pistoleers wanting Eye Shot? Please. That's a thing that bounty hunters learn to do to incap a mark. That's not a Pistoleer thing. We might argue that it's not rocket science to know that when you shoot something in the head, it usually falls right over. But shooting it in the vital organs to incap it? That's a BOUNTY HUNTER thing.
We don't want your profession nerfed Wepp. We don't want ANY profession nerfed. We'd rather they FIXED the professions and THEN set about making it a more level playing field. But by all means, let's continue with this argument. As long as we're fighting with each other, SOE can drag their butts as long as they want to when it comes to actually getting any frelling thing fixed. We'll be sufficiently distracted by calling each other children like a bunch of trigger pumping morons that would be better served playing a first person shooter than anything where we have to interact with other frelling people in a way that doesn't involve fragging them before they make it to the next health power-up.
OH! And THANK you Earlmarinus for bringing up the fact that you had to spend all those points to be a bounty hunter. Now my best pal owes me five bucks. I bet him that in the first page of this thread at least ONE bounty hunter would bring that up. And you say you'd give us the investigation tree and the tracker droids. What, did you only become a bounty hunter for the Scatter? You sound pretty bitter about the fact that you had to spend all those skill points so you could use it. If they let Pistoleers use the scatter Pistol, would you surrender all your Bounty Hunter Skills right away to be a Pistoleer? I'm sure you'd like to be able to re-allocate all those wasted carbine and trapping and hunting points into something a bit more useful. That way you could still use your weapon and you wouldn't have to climb up on your cross and shout at everyone on behalf of bounty hunters how you spent a drekload of points to get what you have.

As I mentioned before Vector, my problem is with having to learn carbines and master marksman and every half useless frelling scout skill to go up one line of an elite profession to use a weapon I should already know how to use!
Honestly folks. And by folks I mean all the trolling frelling bounty hunters in residence. What is the big dramatic deal with the idea of our being able to use a scatter as well? Bounty Hunters can still switch back and forth with Elite Profession levels of skill between two different weapons, giving them a versatility in range, firepower and targeted HAM that we don’t enjoy. We only use the one weapon. And we only got one gun for the trouble. And it’s currently broken. The bounty hunters still have a whole other weapon type they can switch to that packs a bit more of a punch. And that doesn’t get into other bounty hunter skills or their own specials. We’re not asking for those. We don’t WANT those. Your profession does NOT become meaningless if we get to use the scatter, unless that’s the only reason you became a bounty hunter in the first place. If so, let’s all point and laugh now. I’d hope you didn’t spend all those points just for the one gun.
All we want is for our profession to actually live up to its name and give us a little bit of versatility and offensive capability. Yeah I’d like my DX-2 to be fixed. But having read up on its history and how it’s supposed to work, I fear that the DX-2 was MEANT to be this way. I’ve made a bunch of suggestions for guns that we’d like to see later on for Pistoleers and in some cases Bounty Hunters TOO, in a rather exhaustive thread on the subject. But that’ll take an age for the Devils to design and implement. The more immediate fix would be to fix the tragically bad DX-2, or in the absence of being able to fix that, let the Pistoleers use any pistol they can lay a hand to.

Launchers and scatters aren't your standard pistols. Launchers are like mini handheld rocket launchers and scatters are like shotguns in pistol form.
Just let bounty hunters and commandos have our pistols and campaign for new weapons instead of envying ours.

LOL...this is the most rediculous post I have ever read. Get this guy a Scatter Pistol ASAP. You are obviously more mature than anyone who you have called children as you advocate the need to use a weapon that you dont have a weapon cert for in a video game.You then BEEF about other people callingpeople children...lol. This game is not realistic and does not even follow the Starwars movies or EU verbatim. It is loosely based on the Starwars Universe to fitwithin theconfines of a GAME. I dont one shot stormtroopers with a CDEF and when I die I can just clone myself. Ben Kenobi or Jango Fett didnt just pop back up with slightly reducedHAM barthatthey healed by going to a Cantina and then a Med Center. AKA Keep your Starwars history lessons out of this game because they dont apply. Weapon certs are in the game to make different classes well ummm DIFFERENT.
BH is not by any means the privileged children in the game. LLC was useless for the first 2 months until they fixed it. The carbine tree was totally destroyed with nerfs as I take moreself inflicted HAM damage than Idish outwhile wearing Armor. Eyeshot has been silently nerfed as it is doing way less damage now. Investigation has been fairly broken with unattackable marks, droid problems, you lose money on higher level BH missions. The investigation line requires you to travel and sit at starports and shuttleports for a minimum of30 hours just to complete. This sounds really privileged. What a joke.
This is not directed at WinterRoseASFR. Advocate getting your Pistol fixed rather than cry for something someone else has. I am a BH on one server and a Pistoleer on another and I dont see the two pistols being leagues apart, the DX2 isnt as good but the differences are nothing that cant be adjusted by the Devs. I find it rather selfish that you Pistoleers would be crying so loud for achange in certs when other classes are just plain broken. Just be lucky that your DX2 pistol is kind of generic looking rather than looking like a big hair dryer.

I agree, I would like to see the DX2 fixed. Perhaps even change the schematic where it isn't as complex and easier to make "better" DX2s.
I just like the idea of having profession specific weaponry, even though it may not be that "realistic", it adds flavor and diversity.

Your the **edit**er that doesnt know when to get out of a proffession that is not what he wants. You blame other proffessions cause you dont want to admit you wasted your time, why does every one else have to suffer because you cant have your **edit**ing cake and eat it too.
I dont care, you want the weapon go ahead take it, but what are you going to complain about next? carbines look like pistol's on steriods how bout getting them to let you use those, or rifles which are essentially long pistols but due to good genes from the parents that particular brand of long pistol is well endowed.

yes.. you ruined it for everyone kreedly. i thought this was a bit harsh.. to take a great pistol away from the whole pistoleer community like this just because one person is dumb.. but that's the way to devs decided to do it, so theres nothing anyone can really say about it. sorry.
