Thread: Let's talk Damage Mitigation
If past experience is anything to go by, the Devs will take the short(est)cut.
I struggle to even see how/why this is a good idea, or a better thing than fixing specials.
When is this patch supposed to hit?
Mid december is all that I heard. Has there been a more concrete date set?
I have no idea either, but my guess is either tomorrow or a week from tomorrow.

People will still use the same weapons... Dmg will be rounded down on the max on Rep blasters and G5's, BUT... Speed will still be a factor.A combat pistol may have higher min. dmg compared to a Combat pistol..but on the average the Reps will always be faster. With the way that specials are linked to the spd. of yer pistol... U will have to shoot for the lower spd. Which means KT will still be wanted.
I have seen Adv Rep blasters at about 64-200 2.6 spd.... I have never seen an advanced SR lower than 3.2 spd. This will make the difference... especially since there will be alot of folks using minimum dmg. PU's to try to get that xtra little bit. -32% increase in minimum dmg on a 73-400 weap. is alot better than on a 64-200 one.

here's another question, say if you have ranged mitigation and you pull out a melee weapon does it still mitigate the ranged damage you take, sort of like unarmed toughness for tka
Mitigation works no matter what weapon you have equipped. If you have Ranged Mitigation 3, and you're using a Vibro-Axe, then ranged attacks against you will still be reduced in damage by your Mitigation 3.
Unarmed Toughness (along with One-Handed, Two-Handed, and Polearm Toughness) are only supposed to work when you are using that specific weapon. If you have +30 Unarmed Toughness, then it should have no effect on damage you receive if you're equipped with a Sword or a Blaster or a Staff, etc. At least, that's how the description of the Toughness mod makes it sound.

Good thing i just wasted 200k on another krayt weapon just to see its worthless cant we do anything in this game worth doing? now being master pistoleer is olling even more pointless maybe i should becom a commando like everyone else so i can do some damage? anyone my whining fo the moment so everyone quit wasting time buying krayted weapons and hunting krayts for tissues this is also gonna make our weaponsmiths less productive all weapons back to the drawing board and when are we supposed to get "these new weapons" bye
The entire combat system is getting revamped from top to bottom, so until that process is complete you have no idea how useful weapons are going to end up being. Not to mention they already said that they're going to change the actual weapons too, so that a Master Pistoleer's FWG5 will not be the same FWG5 being used by a Novice Marksman.
Furthermore, Mitigation makes Master Pistoleer more useful not less. Mitigation means that it's better to be a Master Pistoleer then a dabbler who doesn't master any elite combat professions at all.
ok well that makes me feel a little better for now but i think one way im gonna get around it otherwise is to stock up on 1000's of crates of 32%min powerups lol. well this will also make slicing weapons useless too unless they make it so a slice will affect the overall range rather than just the max? that would be a good idea.
I mean come on still this krayt issue, its not gonna be worth krayting weapons anymore from the way it looks right? unless that gets changed too well theyre gonna have 300-600k HAM anyway so it will be not worth killin them except for someone who needs xp?
This reduces the damage eveyone does is understandable since all the creatures in the game are losing resist %'s and etc. Well i just hope all the other problems get fixed too instead of changing everything thats going well already and causing more problems. I mean how many other professions have extreme problems that need fixing and they keep adding new features and nerfing everything changing stuff why cant stuff be fixed first?
As a former rifleman, I'd have to say that I'd use a laser rifle more often than a T21, if only because I got tired of firing off about 3 Headshots and then having someone with a peashooter incap me with a lucky shot to the mind pool. The laser rifles tend to be MUCH less damaging to the shooter's mind pool. In addition, they also are usually quite a bit faster, so you don't have to wait as long between random HAM shots while you're waiting for your mind to recharge.
