I'm also curious about NPCs getting the ability. I've had pirates on Lok hit me with MTPS before. If they were considered Master Pistoleerstheymay very wellget Range Mitigation 3.

are you sure mitigation only affects the max?

because slicing affects "damage range" too and it also affects the min.

How does it affect specials?

The special calc is done AFTER mitigation?

How does it affect AOE shots?

Each target gets a different shot calc?

Does it affect mob ranged attacks? Spitting?

This new "communication" is ruining the game.

Any word on whether mitigations from multiple professions will stack? If you're master carbineer and pistoleer, is there an advantage in mitigation?

They don't stack.

This is a great question. All I know is that theCorrespondents who are on TC (like the Brawler Correspondent) have described the system in the way I did in this current post, and have pointed out that it affects some weapons more than others. The Devs have replied and did not disagreed with his characterization of how the system works.

That's the best I can do right now. If someone on TestCenter wants to run tests to make sure, that's great. If I have time this week I can try too.

I strongly suspect that they won't, especially since this change was made in order to help us against high-end content, not the other way around. But it's a good question and I'm not sure.

Great questions. I don't know for sure, and I'm going to make a "Questions about Damage Mitigation" thread on Correspondent Forum with these questions and some of the other questions that have popped up on this thread.

My guess is the following: The calculation is done after the special is calculated, right before applying damage to the target, just like the way armor works right now. I see no reason why it would affect AOE shots differently, and yes if the targets have Mitigation 3 I would imagine that there's a separate calculation for each -- seems like the only way it could work since one target could have Mitigation 2 while another could have Mitigation 3. I have NO idea whether it affects mobs that are primarily melee but have a spitting attack. Good question.

Another reason why I can't really see the devs implementing it as described in this thread is because an across the board % reduction would be MUCH easier to code from a programmers perspective. Singleing out the max would require quite a few more calculations.

This will be a benefit to Combat Medics. Since poisons have no range of damage, they will not be subject to damage mitigation, meaning that their use in PvP will likely be even greater than what it is now. Good news for Combat Medics, not necessarily good new for those we'll be throwing our poisons at.

I have a question

how does migrate help AT ALL in PVE?

I was a master CH for a long time and i ALL the mobs i saw had VERY little difference bettween max and minimum damage, max damage was in 90% cases level of pet * 10 and minimum damage was 20-30 points lower than base. For example a lvl 35 pet would be 330-350 dmg.

I took all of the questions and concerns in this thread and presented them to the Devs ... who answered them and let me share the info. I put all the questions and answers in this thread.

I hope that helps clear up some of the confusion and answer our questions.

Here's a question: What is the point? If I interpret this correctly, it is yet another lame attempt to make everyone the same. Make everyone do the same damage, and force people to play the game they way the nazi control freaks want you to play. "You will suffer a penalty unless you master the profession" just sucks to high heaven. Also, if I understand this right, loot drop weapons (krayt, etc...) are now worthless? So there is no longer any point to looting anything. Everyone should go out and buy crates of DL44 pistols, and some min damage powerups, and everyone should be the same, right?

It wouldn't supprise me to learn that next, unless you master a profession, you are stuck wearing the newbie outfit you get when you create a character. Gawd, why can't you stop breaking stuff. You are totally making this game suck!

Please explain this to me if I am not understanding this right. But even at master, your damage will still be reduced, just less than at dabbler status, correct?

Since you cared enough to post this twice (are people really so proud of what they write?) I'll give you a completely different answer here.

Your damage is reduced whether you are a novice marksmanor a master pistoleer. Mitigation reduces the damage range of the weapon being used on you. It doesn't matter who is using it on you.
