Thread: Let's talk Damage Mitigation
maybe im oversimplifying this but all i see is a big damage reduction to all guns in pvp. they did something similar before (the -75% pvp damage ) then lessened it to 25% after everyone bitched. essentially they are just doing it again but taking another approach: calling it 'damage mitigation' and giving it to us in stages like it was some kind of skill.
personally i dont see how making everyones guns into bigger peices of sh*t than they were before is a benefit to anyone. now the min/max damage listed on any weapon is going to be deceptive and the player is going to have to use math (albeit simple math) every **edit** time they buy a new gun in order to determine what its 'pvp stats' are going to be.
maybe im wrong, maybe somehow lessening the damage of everyones guns is a boon that is above and beyond my puny mind but i know one thing for sure: this will WIDEN the ham cost to damage ratio. like any ranged profession needs that...
makalas, the problem is that this is only the beginning. The Devs are basically going to rebuild combat from the ground up, both PvE and PvP. The problem, from their side, is that they have to do it in stages, because they can't just turn off combat for two or three months while they finish the new system.
Since it have to be done in stages, we're going to see alot of things that just seem pointless or like they just nerf everything, but the Devs said things would feel a little off from what we're used to during the first couple phases of the combat revamp. Once everything is in place combat will be (according to the Devs) superior to the way combat is now. But the problem lies in going from old combat to new combat using stages. The best thing we can do is just hang in there and hope they get this thing right in the end!

I'm a master melee/ranged so you think I would be happy? Wrong this is the worst idea ever...They are'nt going to be changing the ham cost, so we will be doing FAR less dmg on masters while still spending the same amount of hams....Basically no med=dead guy
Actually, you're not going to like this, but they're going to be raising HAM costs. Read what I posted just two seconds ago in this thread for a semi-explanation of why everything is going to seem messed up.

BH's get melee mitigation, not ranged

No, BHs get ranged mitigation.

I have a question:
If i use a Min Dmg Power-up on my weapon does mitigation calculate off my new damage or off the weapons base damage?
I forsee min dmg power-ups becoming very popular
