Thread: Attention Pistoleers: People Laugh in PvP Quite Hard about Your Profession

I fair quite well as a pistoleer with some smugglerPistol whipping someone to the ground and unloading with Last Ditch on them is fun, especially with my 500+ damage geno pistol
How much did you pay for that bugger?
The Riflemen, of course, targets mind. But with lowblows and lastditch occationally hitting mind (they're random HAM hits), the Riflemen often find themselves unexpectedly out of mind and start conserving specials.

You are kiting the fencer right?
The Riflemen, of course, targets mind. But with lowblows and lastditch occationally hitting mind (they're random HAM hits), the Riflemen often find themselves unexpectedly out of mind and start conserving specials. Most of my hits go for the Health, though. So, while they're freaking out about the mind being lower than they're used to, they tend to neglect the Health and get stomped. Synthsteak is totally your friend against the Rifleman.
For Fencers, the smuggler/pistoleer hasa very important special thatis usually overlooked -- intimidate. They will eventually get within 20m. Then you slap 'em with intimidates and lastditch. Because of the stun on the lastditch, they can't use center of being anymore. They start to burn their HAM trying to save themselves. So, after they're intimidated and stunned, keep on kiting and they go down. Supressionfire is a good special against melee folks, too. Again, the health is usually what does 'em in.
Keys for pistoleer/smuggler: Get lastditch down to 1 second spamming. Get some BE initimdate/warcry clothes. Use intimidate when they get too close.
As I stated on my first post, this is successful unarmored. I have the CRAPPIEST Geo around, so I can't get through armor at all. I just won a decent geo, so I'll see how this works with the geo and armored
Wow! I just learned some good stuff from you bro.
Very excellent info. Check out the Triple Master PvP guide in the smuggler forum (anywhere from page 1-3). Also alot of good stuff there
But damn good ideas here.
About armor attachments and skill tapes.... I have sunk 7 million in them so far, and am going to probably sink another 10 mil or more in them before I fill up my ubese shirt and bandolier and mabari armorweave belt. These pieces of armor and clothing NEVER decay. You can fit up 8 armor attachments and 4 skill tapes in them all and they will work FOREVER. Buy two Aakun rings for a total of +10 ranged defense also. I have +20 pistol accuracy and +9 pistol speed than the average pistoleer. I'm also hoping to get to at least 90 pistol speed. With armor attachments, TKM, and two aakun rings, I have +71 ranged defense which really helps. Yes I'm bragging, but i've put alot of work into actually doing damage with pistols in PvP.
Somehow I believe that once they nerf armor we will be doing more damage in PvP with our normal guns (non-geo) ![]()
I see one guy here who says he does good in PvP. Even a +500 geo (which probably costs more than 10 million) will do Jack and $#!7 against a stun armored, PSG wearing, synthsteak scarfing foe.
I think a good gun to have as a pistoleer will be the DE-10. Someone on my server is selling them with over 400 max damage. Once the weaponsmith KD'd a composite armored friend, he hit him with stopping shot for as high as 1500 dmg. That is probably also very little damage to someone using a PSG, comp, synthsteak, high ranged defense, and ranged mitigation 3. Such a pistol retails for about 10 million...

uhm do you guys eat the dodge food ? it's + 45 to dodge skill and with that it's pretty hard to get hit. Also there's the KD defense food - also don't forget that you have more than half of you skill points left to take on other professions that can compliment your pistoleer skills. Yeah pistoleer is damned slow and the real good shots are in the other pistol using professions but it also has one of the best defenses out there together with fencer
but yeah - pistoleer could use a heavy sidearm - maby that 48 meter energy pistol could be turned into AP 2pistol shrug.

If you suck at PvP doesn't mean the prof sucks. I am pretty effective with pistols taking out rifle men and melee alike. Use tatics not ignorant running into battles blaring your guns. By the way I'm not sure at master but health shot 1 is better then 2. It spams faster.
HealthShot2 is better at master for nearly everyone of our guns (I haven't tried a DL-10 yet) than HealthShot1 as you can spam it at the speed cap.

I've had pretty good luck with pistoleer in PvP. Maybe this is because I do all the foods, wear good comp, a PSG, use /equilibrium when my mind gets hacked with Master Head Shot, and use Fan Shot with a "squad" of pistoleers circling the main battle-engaged group. It also helps that I'm a master doc. . .if we could only heal mind.
The reason I feel I am succesful is that I KNOW that I am not gonna take the entire group myself or even one other person. I do not keep track of my kills. . .don't think I have ever done a death-blow. I know that my role given the state of our profession is to be a nuisance and hit most of the enemys' stat pools as quickly as I can as the heavy-hitters do their job. We just make their job easier. . .we're like disease/poison; we tick away at the enemys' pools at a fairly high rate. Plus with Fan Shot we hit multiple targets so we're like area disease / poison. .
Do we get the honor of 'winning the battle' or being 'Uber' or having multiple kills? No. If we're used appropriatly however we can be a key component of overall success.

Nice post and dead on.
