i agree

All profs are going to have to make some sacrifices.35m- Its just like using a Geno all the time. Yea they could make the accuracy alot worse past 35m, but you know its probably hard for them to do that because maybe its hard to predict howsome randomloot/spice/buff/combo etc. will effectmod accuracy, (kinda like how they never expected comp to go into the 90% range) then some pistoleers will eventuallyjust by-pass that penalty altogetherwith unpredicted mods and create another unbalace in the future.. So easiest thing to do nowis just cap it at 35m, which I can adapt to and accept.

I thought melee range was going to be 6m? was it re-extended to 8m?

Last night, 5m was out of range for my friend using unarmed (might have been a bug.)

Personally, I think it would be totally sweet if unarmed had a shorter range than 1H swords, who had a shorter range than 2H swords, who had a shorter range than polearms.

I have no problem having a shorter range than carbines who have a shorter range than rifles. Even if we're 32-35m (depending on the blaster) that's still 4 times the range of melee. As far as I can tell, there are no accuracy differences between 0m and 32-35m either. Of course, that's hard to tell without the little accuracy bonus number like we're used to seeing in Live.

8m was the max for any melee, it may be less for others across the board but no melee class has a range greater than 8m with any weapon.

100% incorrect They must hit the 50 METER target to qualify with the pistol.....

lol...extending whose range? Pistols and Carbines are both being shortened...only rifles remain at 65m max...

We should call TH out on this till we get some sort of response.

I Don't know about the police, but the US miltitary use 25 to 50 meters for pistols not feet.

I was int the US Army I know this from experience!

Ahem, isn't 25 feet about 8m? I'm pretty sure you could seriously injure someone at that range just by throwing a pistol at him.

Dudes, 35m max range on pistols is way more realistic than limiting rifles to 65m. Shooting as fast as possible, I can get all 15 shots from a M9 into a man sized target at 25m, but just barely (and I'm dang good). With an M4 carbine, anything within 200-250m is deadmeat (300m if I slow down and take good aimed shots). An actual scoped rifle...who knows?!?!

Umm, I do hope you all realise that the range cap isn't intended to be the final for all pistols. It's not all pistols, and even rifles have the 0-35m cap. Oh, and the Launcher Pistol is 0-45m, and the SR Combat Pistol is 0 -25m. But as I said, those ranges will change.

Only the 'n00b' ones - the Elite profession ones are 65m.

From what I originally recall of SWG Beta, the ranges of weapons were longer than 65m, but at that range, targets had a tendancy to despawn or not spawn at all. In the end it was throttled back to the current range because they couldnt resolve the issue without severly bogging down the client-side as it tried to resolve MOBs at 100m+. While I would love to see ranges increased dramatically, I'm not holding my breath- unless they've managed to work long-range spawning far more efficently, ranges above 65m could spell an fps disaster for those of us not in a position to buy the "biggest and best" systems.

well i think it is about time to try and re-resolve that range issue, they have more devs and what not. If theycould find a solution to make npc's targetable and not despawn or disappear at 100 meter that would make a big difference, i believe so anyway.

Anyway know if they are even testing it out still, and what kind of cleitn side problems were there?
