One of the toons I am trying on TC 5 is a rifleman, and if you run up to them they will use a new move to butt you with their rifle and barrel whip you into such a stunned and dizzy state you will not be of much good. And yes they can fire at point blank range. My main characters are pistoleers, and I have one as a rifleman, so I am testing both. The rifleman can still shoot at point blank range, most likely because every creature and npc in the game has always aggroed so fast on to you no matter what you are hitting them with, that to not allow them to do this would cause most likely a very bad outcry by us, rifleman, carbineers, smugglers and commandos, but it would be dearly loved by all brawler types.

Umm, Ido hope you all realise that the range cap isn't intended to be the final for all pistols. It's not all pistols, and even rifles have the 0-35m cap. Oh, and the Launcher Pistol is 0-45m, and the SR Combat Pistol is 0 -25m. But as I said, those ranges will change.

My favorite weapon of all time.. The good old M1 Garand has a maxiumum range of 3,200 meters and maximum effective range of 400 meters.....or the greatest distance at which the weapon can be expected to fire accurately to inflict casualties or damage!
