That's what I'm getting at, Wes. A straight up speed increase wouldhelp our DPS, yes - but it would also make us kill ourselves faster, which is something that's already a concern.
What's worse, I don't think our DPS even could be brought in line with a speed increase without making us virtually ignore the speed stat on weapons. A damage increase is also necessary to avoid this.
Default order, X = new Skill mod : Pistol Point Blank Damage.
Basically as you enter point-blank range your damage should be augmeneted by this modifier. So from farther distances we keep the same DPS but when we get in close all our specials and attacks do more damage. Would also make the PB skills have a usage as you can ensure accuracy at these optimal damage ranges.
The reasoning behind this is that in SW EU, a DL44 pistol for example at point blank would be like a T-21 at 64 meters. Theyre very very powerful in close range but the energy dissipates ove distance. So the current DPS is good if it is augmented to be higher when within 10-15 meters of the target.
i think speed mods should be removed from the game entirely. this is the easiest way to balance speed among the professions.

X = Probably the speed issue. No weapon at all should be more faster then 1.0 seconds. But a pistol is supposed to be the fastest weapon and yet a master rifleman can shoot at nearly that speed. Pistols should be no faster the 1.0 seconds but no slower then 2.5 - 3.0 seconds. Carbines should be no faster then 2.0 seconds and no slower then 3.5 - 4.0 seconds. Rifles should be no faster the 3.0 seconds and no slower then 4.5 - 5.0 seconds. Not sure of how that will work with the speed bonuses and such but I'm just saying that pistols should be the fastest ranged weapons in the game.

x = Another pistol given at master that is as good or better stats(with good crafting of course) as the fwg5, RB, or DX2. It should be a different type of damage such as restraint or kenetic. Kenetic would be my vote.
X) Accuracy: Greatly increase the +Accuracy while moving, perhaps even double it as I suggested in the accuracy thread. I would have gone with speed for 'X' but to me that's part of #2. The developer post a while back mentioning caps something like a 1.0 pistol, 1.5 carbine, 2.0 rifle was spot on (don't remember the actual cap numbers).

In my opinion, this is the largest issue facing our profession after getting our specials fixed. It should definitely be one of our top issues.
