Thread: Do we get any attacks capable of doing 1000 damage every 1/2 second?
Master pistoleer, fanshot, and a high-damage weapon is basically 1000 damage a shot. And if they're in a cone it starts multiplying per target and gets really ridiculous.
If you have an extremely fast pistol you can do stopping shot every second too.
In PvE i usually hit for 1k+ with fanshot. About 2.5k+ with stopping and 3k+ with last ditch. Helps that my gun is freakin uber.
Fanshot is loads of fun when coupled with panic shot. Lots of critters die and they cant attack back ![]()

Maybe if they are ONLY teras kasi. but most TK take a ranged profession as well...
ps that teras kasi dude must've sucked, i hit rebel NPC's for 5000-7000 dmg all the time if they are knocked down.. 3000-4000 if they aren't.. maybe he wasn't using styles or something.. i regularly oneshot them too, it's pretty funny..
i think my record hit with unarmedhit3 is 8400 on a rebel surface marshal (that is before resists, and they have next to none resist and i get a 25% bonus on them cause i have an AP1 attack against no armor so i actually hit for more than 8400)
hrmm..interesting. but hey this game is so bugged it aint even funny. i wouldnt be surprised if the cap wasnt 1 to tell u the truth

I had an AT-ST (before it was snuck up on by a flamer, go figure). It is listed as having an attack speed of 2.0. When I and my AT-ST are killing a base, I shoot exactly 4 times for every 1 shot it takes (combat chat window). That signifies a .5 second cap to me.
Also, if you just take out a watch and time the shots in the combat window... you'll see that it is faster than 1 second.

You have all helped to restore some of my confidence in Pistoleer.
- You need to treat your pistol as a sidearm (which is what it is). You won't get nearly as much damage out of it than most other professions unless you are willing to use special attacks.
A Teras Kasi does a ridiculous amount of damage basically for free. The advantage you get of course is range.
As a smuggler, pistoleer, and teras kasi the pistoleer skill points are purely an augmentation. The only decent offensive attack we get from the pistoleer tree IMO is fanshot. Otherwise I use Smuggler specials 90% of the time and Teras Kasi skills situationally.
I really agree with deadnewbie in that TKM is by far the greatest bang/buck elite profession in the game (Novice Medic is definately the greatest bang/buck period). Pistoleer, is a pretty crappy investment in skill points if you want a freestanding elite combat tree. It only shines when augmented with smuggler or bounty hunter.
Compare this:
- Fan Shot
- +49 Pistol Speed
- Decent Dodge, Moderate Melee Defense
- State Defenses
- Ability to target and bleed the health pool (but worse than a marksman at dealing damage to it)
to:
- Ability Target Mind, Action, and Health pools with attacks.
- Self buffing of all the HAM bars
- Bleed, Poison, Disease, and Wound healing (complements Force of Will and the Combat Medic mind healing powers)
- Brawler tanking skills including better Defenses vs. State Changes
- Combat Equilibrium (fights Dizzy)
- Amazing Melee and Range Defense
- Beat the speed cap without dabbling (+115 unarmed speed at master)
- Capable of dealing out huge damage for free and absolutely ridiculous damage with specials
- Ability to get up from incap
TKM > Master Pistoleer period.

If you use your timestamp feature you'll see you shoot every 1 second. Much more reliable than guestimating it based on a mobs listed attack speed.
The cap is 1 second, which also applies to melee clases. If you saw someone hitting faster he was probably using an AE attack or a combo of some sort that hits multiple times for 1 attack (fanshot was like this on test but it never went live).
The attack itself was capped at 1 second, but he was just hitting multiple times. Melee will and should do more damage than pistoleers. We get ranged. You want safety of ranged attack you buy it with other skills (like doing massive dmg).
Besides that we can do 1k every second, fanshot will hit multiple targets for 1k every second too with the right gun.
Boy I don't know what you guys are doing but as a 1343 Pistoleer I'm doing upwards of 1200-1800 damage per shot with my pre patch NON Krayt FWG5 after its powered up. I'm doing body shot 2's for 800-1100 damage in targeted ham, and double tap does about 900-1400 random single target ham damage.
Pistolwhip + stopping shot usually allows me to use a 1 time per fight 3000+ damage single hit, follow up with fanshots. Thats actually a pretty nasty move in pvp too, its no one shot but it does allow me to severely decrease one pool on someone then spam fanshot till its the rest of the way gone.
I'm working up the smuggler skill tree so soon I will be getting low blow to replace pistolwhip. Counting all of the great things about our class such as the ability to easily kite (lets face it, this is what we were made for) and high dps vs AR 0 opponents we're not doing as bad as some people whine.
We just need a few things, our speed cap lowered, useful and unique specials, and it would be nice to have a really good elite gun. Think magnum with say at least ar3 but slower than hell. Anyone yapping about how weak pistols are IRL compared to a rifle obviously hasn't shot some of the large bore handguns. A 45 does more physical damage and has more knockdown capacity than a M-16. A 44 magnum at close range will rip a mans head off and has about as much kick as a 30-06. A desert eagle is a 50 calibur pistol designed specifically to take down big charging critters such as grizzlies when a shotgun loaded with buck is just pissing it off.
the cap IS NOT 1 it is .5
using time stamp i can shoot specials twice per second. in the combat spam you will see 2 of the same special firing in the same second. that is .5 If you want me to provide you with screens i will.

Reading comprehension is a good thing. If you will notice that everybody understands that with specials versus unarmored or lightly armored opponents a pistoleer will do competitive DPS. However, this is nowhere close to the DPS that a TKM, Swordsman, Fencer, or a Rifleman can unleash (poor carbineers and pikeman :smileysad
