Thread: Do we get any attacks capable of doing 1000 damage every 1/2 second?
I was just in the Dark Trooper base on Naboo and I have NEVER felt so inadequate in my combat abilities.
A Master Fencer was soloing 4 DarkTroopers at a time and never hit for less than 2,000 damage.
A Teras Kasi Artist (don't know what level, but most likely a master) was also soloing 4 DarkTroopers at a time and he was hitting for about 1,200 points every 1/2 second. I thought 1 sec was the universal speed cap.
If I were to try the same thing I would be dead before I got off my 3rd shot with my 1.0 sec powered up FWG5. These melee guys do HUGE damage FAST. Do we have comparable abilities as Master Pistoleers?
I am not a Master yet, but just seeing this display completely shattered my confidence in my combat abilities.
the cap is 1 second actually...it seems faster but its really not. and yes we do get attacks that can do as much ....its called stances 4 and using techniques 4...then spam fan shot. it easily throws out 1 second attacks with a pretty fast pistol. and if its a quick and powerful pistol then ull easily throw dmg out thast comparible to them
It will hit for over 1k often, but thats before resists, so expect the damage delt on a dark trooper to be quite a bit less, even with our AP1 guns. ( god I like the way that sounds, ap1 guns. Yay Rep blaster
hey how good is the rebublic blaster?
cause im using a FWG5 1.7 70-270 and it works pretty well with spammin fanshot.
is there a better republic blaster out there?

Slight observation about this 1 second cap.
I had an AT-ST (before it was snuck up on by a flamer, go figure). It is listed as having an attack speed of 2.0. When I and my AT-ST are killing a base, I shoot exactly 4 times for every 1 shot it takes (combat chat window). That signifies a .5 second cap to me.
Also, if you just take out a watch and time the shots in the combat window... you'll see that it is faster than 1 second.
The devs have stated that there is a 1 second minimum and they were considering lowering it to 0.5. As for timing it you really can't since what you see on client side is always lagged behind what is really happening so a matter of 0.5 seconds really can be messed up by lag, ping and various other things. The client side is always a bit faster to compensate for the ping which can be anything up to 0.4 seconds meaning that by the time the ping is taken into the equasion both the client and server are syncronised within a matter of 0.3 seconds or there abouts.
As for the AT-ST, your dealing with something which certainly does not fire once every 2 seconds. Since it has two cannons which fire independantly the reason your seeing your four shots between it's shots is due to how it attacks. The flaw is that it fires twice in rapid succession, for the second cannon to be ready for the next shot it needs a seperate 1-2 seconds for it to recharge. Hence you get a 2 secondish delay for both cannons hence you can fire around 3-4 shots between each volley from the AT-ST.

exactly right. There is no way I, as a master pistoleer, could keep up with my master TK buddy in damage...at least over short periods of time. The powerful TK moves seem to drain his mind pool MUCH faster than my specials drain my action pool (he's a wookie and I'm a human by the way so he also has more HAM). So over longer periods of time, pistoleers, and ranged professions in general, can keep up in DPS...barely.
Though it is not realistic that a martial artist could walk up to a rancor and start punching it, doing more damage than some guy with a gun, it is necessary in this fantasy setting, for balance.
Just remember that you'll always beet a TK in a duel, unless they can somehow corner you, because you simply keep on the move and shoot. So each class has its advantages and disadvanages.
The visible shots in the client have very little to do with actual shots made for effect.
Remember that for 'cinematic' reasons, any ONE shot you fire will have anything from one to three, maybe more, 'visible' shots made, only one of which is the 'real' single shot you took.
