Thread: Rifleman faster then pistoleer???
First of all, it was a combat PROPOSAL.
As in: an act of putting forward or stating something for consideration.
Just like the proposal to cap the riflemen's speed at 3.0 second (But that would bring balance,they don't want that)
It never went live, and I doubt it's on the test center.You maybe have a weapon with .5 speed, but it still caps at 1 second per special.
On a sidenote, the proposal was for pistoleers. As in Pistoleers(Without dabbling) would reach the .5 speed cap.(I'd be happy if we hit the 1 secondcap without dabbling).
If they would give us the ability to reach the speed cap with our specials, without dabbling it might bring balance. A pistol dabbler (Bh/pistols/smuggler template) would get destroyed by a doctor/anything else. The pistol would exhaust his action in 8-10 shots. Hardly enough to kill an armored opponent, much less a doctor.-DP
As far as I know, that .5 cap for pistols and 3 second cap for rifles was just a suggestion about what the Devs may do sometime in the future. As for now though everything is still capped at 1 second.
I think we'd have heard something by now about it, since it's been over a week since the patch went in, and god knows I'm still firing at the same rate I was.

Of course, this original grip about speeds all goes back to the fundamental retardedness of the speed formula in SWG. Either the nature of the formula needs to be changed, or no one should be able to get speed mods over about +70 or so.
I have 100 speed (a bit more but who cares, I'm at 100) and I fire once per second, no matter the special I use nor the weapon.
5k pve is a bit extreme but with Last Ditch on a KD opponent, why not ? Let's do maths :
5k on a KD opponent means 3333 on a standing opponent (50% bonus for KD).
3333 with last ditch means 555 regular dmg (Last Ditch still 6x modifier ?).
555 regular dmg means 370 upper weapon dmg...very plausible.
It waas a very happy shot but nothing impossible here. Btw, you're not a pistoleer skill's only user, you are also Smuggler and BH, which is very powerful, everybody knows...
current pistol cap is 1 shot per second
sometimes your combat spam will get lagged and show multiple shots per second however that is not how fast you are fireing. a Time stamped combat spam is quite often incorrect due to lag.

I formally apologize to everyone that i may have insulted or anything, i was definitly wrong, speed cap is 1 second. But i have been hitting 6k Pve lately and that isnt a Lie.
Someone said before that stopping shot has a x5 modifier tho, i swear that cant be correct, my lesser scatter that i used for ever was 244 max damage, and that times 5 would be liek 1300 or so, and i know that ive hit into the 2k range on a regular standing opponent.
Last Ditch On a regular standing opponent with the same gun, hits for 2.5k, once, it hit for 2.7k. These all on unarmored no resitances targets like butterflies and otherthings found outside of town
But again i apologize for ranting on about the speed cap was .5. I am ignorant for saying this and Am sorry.
The previous posters are right.
There is a speed cap of one shot per second -- no one can fire any faster than that. It's hardwired in the game.
A Master Rifleman fires as fast or faster than a Master Pistoleer. I explain why this happens in the State of the Profession Report -- it's because of the borked speed equation underlying the game. I'm working with the Brawler Correspondent and the Fencer Correspondent on this issue, to get the equation fixed.
