Thread: What's wrong with DX2s?

well personally, i use the dx2 as my primary gun, i love it and im always on the hunt for a new one......

my current krayt dx2 is 2.0 spd with 267 max dmg, i forget the min, but im pretty sure its around 112. now at master pistoleer the 2.0 spd really doesnt come into it.
the thing about the dx2, is its a close range weapon, more so melee than ranged, cos u need to be at 0m to get maximum accuracy, but then i like to fight like that, i usually tank for alot of my guild hunts etc.

what you gota remember is not only it is acid dmg, something that ALOT of mob are vounrable to, but its got light amour piercing (ap1)

anyway, up close, on a armoured mob or critter, im more inclined to use the dx2 over anything....
well unless its got special protection to acid lol, then ill switch to one of my other pistols that i carry at ALL times
republic
scout
dx2
fw
striker
tangle
dl44 (heh yet to be fired as ive not seen a better one for sale!!!!!)

I can't stand the DX2 because of its inaccuracy.

It isn't only the DX2 that gets no love from most people. One of the greatest strenghts in the pistoleer profession I see different from others, is the shear amount of types of dmg a pistoleer can do. There are only 2 - 3 dmg types that pistoleers have no guns for. But we have guns for nearly everything else.

Excellent points, and exactly the sentiment I would post. I keep 4 different pistols hotkeyed, and quite likely I'll add a tangle and striker to the mix soon. I have a speed-sliced republic blaster in one hotkey slot, a damage- sliced FWG5 in the next, a damage-sliced DH17 in another, and a speed-sliced DX2 in the last. It is very rare that I find something for which I don't have an appropriate pistol. My powerup of choice is min dmg/speed for all of these.

I was master pistoleer for a day, and had to drop a bit of it to fit in other skills that I found I needed. I'm at my final build now, which includes 0/1/4/3 Pistoleer. I love the fact that I can use any of a number of different guns depending on the situation. For the longest time, the FWG5 was my weapon of choice. Now that I take the time to look first and shoot later, I like all of my pistols pretty much equally. And yes, that includes the DX2.

My solution is to carry 6 pistols with me and keep them on the lower row of my toolbar. Do a /exam of target and shift-F# to the best weapon. Just because one gun does more or less damage or is more or less acurate does not make it lame. I bet if you use a tuned up FWG on a Nightsister you will still do less damage than I do with my Scout blaster And the tangle pistol everyone seems to hate, it is one of my faves in PvP

Most Gunfighters don't want to fight at melee range, that's why the DX2 sucks and will continue to suck until they fix it. My FWG5 is 72-275 dmg at 1.1 speed without powerup. The stats from the earlier post are assuming that the DX2 is hitting the target just as much as the FWG5. This is never the case. The reason why the FWG5 will always be better is because it hits the target a lot more than a DX2.

Did they fix the fact that the AP characteristic of the DX2 is broken? As far as I know they haven't. If I was fighting something with equal resist to heat and acid I would favor the DX2 because of the "AP" and after a while discovered much to my shock and dismay that my damage output was worse (I did have a better Prenerf FWG but nowhere good enough to overcome the AP factor) Right now I always hit the resist if there is one and if there are equal resists out comes my Pistol IV FWG5 because it is tried and true.

I carry a Tangle, FWG and DX2 and I use each of them against the appropriate resist critters. Hmm... Maybe I should consider adding a Striker & Republic into the mix. At 1/4/4/4 my accuracy is good enough that the horrid accuracy of the DX2 isn't as big a factor. However, as a novice Pistoleer (The time at which this pistol is gained), it is. The Hit or Not Hit factor can't be removed from any damage comparisons.

To make a DX2 requires so much more quality materials than a DX2 it isn't funny. This includes rare items such as Krayt tissue. To use 5 * the amount of something as Rare as Krayt tissue you would expect the end result to be 5 * better. It isn't thus isn't worth the material investment considering the opportunity costs of making that single DX2.

The bottom line is the DX2 is an aweful weapon that doesn't do justice to the Novice Pistoleer. As the Pistoleer advances to overcome it's terrible accuracy problems they are unable to upgrade it to a Krayt due to the prohibatively expensive price.

The answer to a lot of the DX2 problems is A) A good damge slice to get it near 198 max dmg range. Then find a new little gem that I have tried out... a speed/min dmg power up. I drop the speed like 32% and the miin dmg by around 16%. For another combination, get an already decently speed sliced DX2 and the same power up. The speed will be close to the best scout blasters and very very close in min/max dmg which is very important these days.

The armor piercing on the DX2 doesn't work.

The DPS of most DX2's is lower than the FWG5.

The DX2 is very inacurate at >20m.

I say give us the scatter pistol cert instead. Why shouldn't a MASTER of pistol weapons be able to use all the pistols in the game?

I thought the ap on the dx2 did work, just not in the way people thing . ap does NOT do more damage to unarmoured mobs but means u do more damage to armoured mobs then u would without ap.

If you see what i mean :/

I think AP is supposed to do more damage to unarmored mobs.

It is. 125% according to the Armorsmith FAQ. Although I've read elswhere that the AP increase damage isn't working on any weapon.. So a t21 would do the same damage to a heavy armored mob that it would to a non armored.

The dx2 is a sweet weapon in PvE. Everyone should have 4-6 weapons hotkeyed in their toolbar. I personally have Launcher Pistol, Repub, FWG, DX2, Tangle, Flamer, and Vibroknuckles.

I wish people could see past the whole 'best weapon' issue and realize that here's a better alternative for every situation. Then again maybe not, it makes those of us who know the mechanics that much better than the rest.

BTW, I recommend that Armorsmith FAQ to everyone. It is an extremely educational read.
