Thread: What's wrong with DX2s?
Chris
the dx2 is nice but the max damage is not that great , most are 148 tho i just got one at 159 but got a naffy slice 198 max
with 2.5 speed , dont think any one has krayt dx2 as they need huge amounts of krayt.
But the acc is pretty bad they miss a hell of a lot for some people.
All in all the dx2 is a nice pistol, i carry a dx2 and fwg and a rep blaster with me i use the rep most of the time.
"and DX2 has a higher max as well"
No way. Good FWG's always have better max dmg than the good DX2's, especially the "pre-nerf Krayt" ones. The reason why everyone uses FWG's instead of DX2's is because the DX2 is horribly inaccurate. The only time it is accurate is in close range! We want to get a good distance away from the mob not stand at 0m and shoot away with a DX2. With the DX2 I usually hit about 20% of the time that I do with an FWG. This means that I still do more damage with an FWG even if the creature has resists to heat (as long as it's not 100%)and not acid. Also, FWG's are generally faster than a DX2 which usually has a speed of 2.5. We should be the fastest shooters in the galaxy but our gun is slow and inaccurate.

Very true, well I do stand in front of the mobs heh, so I suppose that is why I see nothing wrong, I have two great FWG5's also but my sliced DX2 has a higher max than both. It's my fav personally, overcharge works fine against the mobs ... I am Medic also so I just stand there and heal. someone please answer my last post

that DX is my favorite on my armory it gets thru anything xept a good made composite armor xD. The DX2 is a nice weapon you just gotta find a fine weaponsmith and have luck with a slice.
DX2's are slow compared to most of the other pistols out there. Their min damage is what I like, usually higher than most of the others, but it has no where near the max damage as an FWG5 in most cases. I usually get much closer to min damage rather than max so the DX2 is a decent pistol for me.
You also have to realize that there are relatively few pure pistoleers, many are mingled with commando or bounty hunter both of which have pistols that are just as good if not significantly better than the DX2. Also with the Republic blaster which anyone can use, it is also armor piercing with a higher max damage and speed.
Sadly it is true that both the DX2 and the Republic blaster are very inaccurate in my opinion, especially if you dont feel like going toe to toe with your adversary, but I would wait to see what the new combat system will bring. I am hopeful for a master pistoleer weapon, or at least some weapons that are only certed higher up the tree. Only time will tell I suppose.... thats my two cents worth...
/agree most probably dont realize its AP. Also, its damage is not very good with its speed, so those things together move people away from it.
I use it if something has armor and is resistant to Energy. Otherwise I use my republic blaster wich has great damage, decent speed 2.0 sliced, with AP doing energy. It could be considered the pistoleer weapon, but there is no real cert for it, and almost everyone can use it. Except for the few that are bugged that cant use it all.
The only time it is accurate is in close range!
Though I do use my DX2 more than anything, the major drawback is its range accuracy - which I believe a lot of individuals won't want to risk close combat.
I use the DX2 as my primary gun. But I don't pvp with it.
It seems to me that most people don't ever bother to examine what they are fighting. or at the very least don't ever bother to match up the weapon's dmg types to the weakest or vunerable resist of what they are fighting.
Certainly in some situations, using a weapon that may be more resistsed than another can be more beneficial for reasons such as weapon spd, max dmg. For example something that is 10% more resistant to heat than acid, using an FWG5 may make more sense just for the fact it's more accurate has a high max, thus able to negate the extra 10% in resists the target may have if compared to trying to hit it using it's weaker resist.
However... in most situations that is not the case. Most of the high end beasties tend to be vunerable or less resistant to acid than other types by design. As most of the armor piercing weapons in the game tend to be acid dmg type with a few obvious exceptions. And most acid weapons also are AP1.
It isn't only the DX2 that gets no love from most people. One of the greatest strenghts in the pistoleer profession I see different from others, is the shear amount of types of dmg a pistoleer can do. There are only 2 - 3 dmg types that pistoleers have no guns for. But we have guns for nearly everything else.
TanglePistol
- Stun Dmg Type - While most are not too impressed with this weapons stats, most also overlook that the composite armor most people pvp in, is also vunerable to stun dmg. Thus you can fight someone fully armored and theyr'e armor will only hinder them. You'll shoot right thru it.
Striker Pistol
- Kinetic Dmg type -
Scouts/Republic Blaster
- energy
FWG5
- heat
DX2
-acid
For other kind of creature, you really have to examine them to find out what they are vulnerable to.
Let's take stocked FWG5 (60-200 range) vs DX2 (90-150 range) (give and take 10-20 point of damage due to server difference)
Assuming a particular creature has Light Armor 20% Heat Protection/Acid Protection.
Using stopping shot, FWG5 can dish out around 450-1500 damage, DX2 does 675-1125 damage.
Factoring the effect of light armor (50% damage reduction), actual damage dish out by FWG5 is only 225-750, whereas DX2 remains as 675-1125.
Factoringt the 20% protection, the final damage dish out by the FWG is 180-600, and DX2 is 540-900
Clearly, DX2 comes out ahead for this particular creature.
In fact, as long the acid protection is not greater than 47%, DX2 will still dish out more actual damage than a FWG5.
Not forgetting that most of the regular hunted creatures usually have weaker acid protection too.
