Thread: Randonb! Where's our TH Question this week?!
Randonb wrote:
The community is frustrated with being a "sideshow" in groups (low DPS, low accuracy, average defenses for a ranged profession, only a melee knockdown& a bleed for special attacks) and having sub-par performance in solo play. They would like some insight into what their role is expected to be in the coming days when they will be considered a contender. What will our role be? What are our intended advantages?
New draft, a couple of additions. We don't want it to get too long and complex. New items underlined (of course they won't be when I submit it

How does this relate to Pistol skills from other professions? We've submitted a great deal of thoughts & opinions on what we want to be, but haven't yet heard how it meshes with the development team's vision or plan.(EDIT: typo)Message Edited by Randonb on 05-15-2004 03:45 PM
A good question, much more upbeat and optomistic then my question would have been, and thats probably a good thing. The hting I like most about this question is, its essentially impossible for TH to skirt, and dance around the question itself, like his last answer, which was bassically "I HATE YOU COMBAT BALANACE". If we get a "combat balance" type answer we will confirm for all time that TH and the devs dont see pistoleer as a equal profession.

Hurrah!
If they dodge this one with a CB wait and see answer, I'll eat my hat.
10-1 he just says " the combat RB will vastly alter the entire game, stay tuned as everyone wants to see what it means to them, next question"

If your hat is tough, start marinating now.
I'll bet anyone 1,000 credits that we get a "Wait until the combat revamp. It's just around the corner"
Well, actually it's one given out for doing a few favours for the people at a certain basein the NWof Corellia. MaybeI should start some pre-emptive chewing just on the off chance? ![]()

Anybody who thinks that this question won't be answered with a pat "Wait for the Combat Balance" answer, is ABSOLUTELY kidding themselves...
In my opinion, we would be far better served by asking detailed questions about stuff like dual wield, which helps plant the seeds for what we WANT. It's a leading questions, pollsters do it all the time. For example "Will dual wielding be available as a Master skill only?" makes clear that's what we want the answer to be. Same with "Will we fire two pistols at one time, or will we stupidly fire one pistol, then the other". DO NOT ask "Will we have special "dual-wield" pistols", because that may give them bad ideas...

awesome.... although this seems like a big question for TH totake all at once, it encompases all we need to ask to get all the relevant information we're looking for![]()
perfect
Exactly. Its like talking to managment of your company. Ask for more then you expect, so you actually get what you expect. Ask TH more then we think he will actually answer, so he might actually something.
Looks good with revisions Rand.

Agreed! This question is just vague enough that TH will indeedreply it, but I don't know that you will get an answer to it.
I want to know why as an eliteranged combat profession we have the worst ranged defense in the game?
