Thunderheart is away at E3, so it's going to be running late. He hasn't said anything about when he'll do it, so probably next week. In the meantime, we have more time to work out a question. I'm going to look through the thread today and try do draft one for you guys to look at...

Here are two question canidates.

1. How will out dual wield work? Will it be that we have to have specially crafted blasters that are for dual wielding? Or will we just be able to equip any two blasters out of our inventory? Also, what kind of penalties are they looking at doing for dual wielding?

2. For our specials and the CB, are they planning on working on existing specials, and making they work as intended? Or are they going to be replacing some of them, and redoing parts of the profession based on the Pistoleers "Combat Roll"?

I would personally like to see a question asked like:

How exactly is the patch 10 combat balance going to affect weapon types? Currently, most guns are never used due to being vastly inferior to the set of 3 or so weapons that everybody uses. Will the combat balance be addressing this discrepancy in weapon usefulness, making it so that all weapons are usefull (well aside from CDEF's maybe) even at the master level ofa profession and seen in action? Examples of weapons that aren't used much that should be used much more often include the DL-44, SR Pistol, D-18, etc.

I would like to see something along the lines of what our role is. For Example:

What do the developers envision as the Pistoleers primary role in combat? What is the unique niche that we will fill following the combat and GCW revamps?

I think something like this would go a long way towards renewing optimism as well giving us some insight into what we're going to get in the combat balance. Just my two cents.

Question: TH, can you answer any Pistoleer question with an answer that amounts to more than "Wait for the combat revamp"?

It looks like the most common suggestion(almost half of the votes) want to ask a question about our planned role. It was a substantial majority, with dual wield as a far distant 2nd.

The community is frustrated with being a "sideshow" in groups (low DPS, low accuracy, average defenses for a ranged profession, only a melee knockdown& a bleed for special attacks) and having sub-par performance in solo play. They would like some insight into what their role is expected to be in the coming days when they will be considered a contender. What will our role be? What are our intended advantages?

We've submitted a great deal of thoughts & opinions on what we want to be, but haven't yet heard how it meshes with the development team's vision or plan.

Just to clarify, that's not submitted yet. It's open for comments.

Good job, I like that one.

edit:

if you could just make a note in there about our issue with melee and pistolrange, too, that'd be perfect.

Hear hear!!! I think they really should give us more of an indication as to exactly what their theory is behind the combat balance. What role do they see each combat profession play? How drastic will the changes be for existing professions?

Hurrah!

If they dodge this one with a CB wait and see answer, I'll eat my hat.

my question for thunderheart was "would there be any effort to differentiant between pistoleers and other professions that use pistols?"
is there any way that we could squeeze that in? maybe ask "will our role only be defined by what other support professions we pick up?"

i would like to know if our role could be a solo effort, without the need to dabble in other professions to be useful

I like that question, Randonb. A lot of the proposed questions will only result in a "more details with the combat balance" answer. This question opens the door for an idea of what direction we'll be moving towards with that publish. It's not asking for specifics, but a general idea of what our profession will look like.

Looks OK to me Rand, I'm liking your question and its wording. Roll with it, is my vote.
