Thread: Parts of the Combat Balance to be rolled out in Publish 7

The reason is because within 20m of a TKM you're going to be dizzy and flat on your back before you know it unless your knockdown defense makes its roll (or you've got defense stacking, which isn't going to last through pub 7.) Unless knockdown/dizzy is toned down a bit, TKM's are going to rule the in close fights (for the most part, one exception...)

Now, you do have one advantage over a TKM in close quarters... if both of you have armor. We can punch through armor better than they can by switching to a DX2 up close due to AP light and acid damage. High kinetic and medical buffs can severely slow down a TKM's ability to give damage. You'll still turtle on your back a bit while they spam Spitting Rawl on you every second, but it won't be instant incap like no armor/no buff.

That said, I don't think we should be useless beyond 40m. I think we should not be as effective out there as we are in the 0-35m range, but we shouldn't suck at 64m.

This isn't the final pass at the revamp, give it time. When it is done, all combat classes should be viable options in both PvE and PvP. Until then,you just have to deal with broken specials and being second rate at times. Sucks, but hey, 1st year of release in an MMORPG is just extended beta.

I hate to make a bad situation worse, but I try to correct misinformation where I can.

Vibro-Knucklers have AP1.

Nice anubis. My service is a full size 45. Glock 21, ballsy to carry a gun with no solid safty, and my sneaker is a Czech 50 in .35 ACP. Tiny gun, but good lord it can put a bullet through 5 feet of brick. Tried it on a TAC III vest that a friend of mine tossed out after it stopped a rifle round from chewing through his heart. We found the .35 shredded in the gel behind the vest!

I'm glad we got the notes for publish 7, it has just about convinced me to drop this pitifully weak proffesion since the devs obvously hate us.

Join me and drop pistoleer!!!

It looks to me like they're just trying to FORCE more people to diversify their professions. Astromech stats said that pistoleer was the #1 profession with CH as #2. So the solution is obvious, make pistoleer suck so they'll try something else. Well I have tried other things. I was a BH for a few months (which owned by the way). Then I was gonna do fencer for the stats, but I hate melee (just not my type of combat). Rifleman is pretty cool, but the Force help you if you let them get too close and are pretty ineffective in a group (I like group hunting). I tried crafting, hated it.

I think SOE should be taking more time to make those other professions that no one likes and make them better instead of making a good thing just ok.

/sermon off

Interesting point about the Pistoleer bein number 1. With both commando and BH being complimented by Pistoleer, anyone going for either profession will automatically pick up at least some pistoleer. Which of course forces the request to put the best pistoleer stuff in the master box to prevent massive dabbling. But the smugglers have cried and tried on that already.........

The carbine changes were tweaks submitted a fair while ago (back during the period when we had no correspondent).

The things we need, however, are a little more complicated.Most of our specials are so broken that theyneed to be revamped. You can't tweak a special if it doesn't do anything to begin with. I've already submitted a list of possible revamps (such as making DS 1&2 do something), bug fixes (such as making PBA2 actually attack multiple targets), and tweaks(such as increasing the range on PMD1 to 10 meters to match other melee attacks in the game) based on ideas I have heard over the months.

The day will come when we will be fixed. Someday, our Top 5 list won't be such game-encompassing issues as fixing the very speed equation that defines the combat system, they will be little, manageable things. If you can'tor don't want towait for that day, that's your prerogative. By all means, do what makes the game fun for you. For most of you, I personally suggest dabbling like crazy in whatever you can to get by. You chose Pistoleer because you wanted to be a Pistoleer. In the end, chances are you'll be glad you hung on.

On another note, I am no longer getting the impression that Philosopher1976 once expressed here: that we are on the back burner. Pistoleer has been recognized as a profession that is sorely lacking. It's been a long PR battle, but I feel that both the dev team and the player base are ready to listen with open ears.

I can understand that there is a LOT of fixing to be done but hearing nothing from publish 6 & 7 doesn't really make us feel any better about it, all it says to me is there just ignoring us, not even a crumb has been passed to us so the assumption that there not fixing it untill it isn't number 1 seems reasonable, but there is another point, if pistoleer is the number 1 proffesion why isn't it getting ANY fixes, if the majority of players have some pistoleer then they could be fixing the game for a lot of people.

I just can't understand their prioritys.

Less new content and more fixes, you work on new content you work less on fixing the game.

Really? I'm afraid I'm somewhat pessimistic and mildly paranoid when it comes to pistoleer and our problems being recognized for what they are- actual problems (darn SOE for twisting me from innocent to crone ). Any chance of some examples of people (mainly Devs/TH) acknowledging our plight?

Totally off subject so feel free to one-star me, but Woohoo! About time!

Vertical Item Movement: Another big player request brings the ability to move furniture and household items up and down. Players in all houses can now move items up and down by either using the Radial Menu or the following commands:
* /moveFurniture UP (1-50)
* /moveFurniture DOWN (1-50)
