If not, then remember that just because we know about it doesn't unbalance everything.
As an example and nothing more, part of that balance was thought to be rifles could use their range to deal more damage before mobs could get in melee range and tear through their low melee defenses while pistoleers had higher melee defense and could be engaged in melee sooner.

So add more and fix less. :\ That makes no sense. I just now saw this and a bit curious now to see the outcome being that I planned to go Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer
Regardless you'll still have a powerful template. Don't let this distract you.

It matters much more what is actually happening rather what people thought was happening.

What bothers me most is the (as usual) "slilence of the Devs".....The least they could say is we're checking on it....I'ts not like it's an isolatd problem as it effects ALL combat profs. But instead there's just dead air coming from that side....At least someone from development could tell any of the corespondents " we hear you we're checking it out"
Everyone is pretty busy with the new beta.

The chef correspondent has yet to receive any info regarding this to pass on to us lowly chefs. Somehow I am unotomistic that you will get any further info regarding this either.
I think the way the bonus is phrased is wrong. It should not be "melee defence" but "melee's defence"

Well yes, I'm waiting to see what they say to Higginsis.

1. This is recently broke. About 5-6 weeks ago I tested Vegasparine while my pistol was equiped... it gave me better defense against a Jedi using a Saber.
2. This is NOT functioning as intended. If it was, then why would any ranged template get ANY Melee Def and why would any Melee Prof have any Ranged Def?
3. This takes out the speciality of Ranged defending against Ranged and Melee defending against Melee.... and vice versa on the attack.

Agreed, I am following this issue with all this in mind.

Really like how Pistol Defense Mods add to Melee Defense even when Melee Defense doesn't work with a pistol on ::shrug::

If the devs come back and say this is working as intended its means they're full of BS and are just too lazy to fix it. Everything in the game, from the description of the skills, to their distribution in the skill boxes, to their representation in the character sheet points to it being a bug.

this has been the case since beta. At least I've always known of it.

Weither it is working as intended or not, I still think Defense is a big Issue for pistoleers. We have the shortest range of any profession, the lowest damage output, we need to be able to take a beating. We need to be the tanks of the ranged professions. Pistol Defense (if it actually works
) needs to get boosted... There should be a noticable difference between the damage a pistoleer takes from a Jedi or Melee profession next to the damage a Rifleman takes from them.
