Same here. I went from something similar to the triple threat to "pure" pistol template and I love it. Pistols definitely have a certain something going for them. If you don't enjoy it, then definitely switch to something you can have fun with.
I have to ask those that say they are doing well and having fun. Because I bet I know that answer. Do you have any pistol professions besides pistoleer? Because if you do, I bet it's those parts of pistoleer that are working for you. Pistols itself in this game is fun, but the Pistoleer profession BY ITSELF is not any good really. To much not working, to underpowered compared other stand alone elite combat professions.
Doh, forgot to check this thread as it grew. Yeah, I have pistols IV from BH, rogue and novice commando. I agree that pistoleer is broken but pistols (can) rock. That said, I still really appreciate the defenses I get from pistoleer, as well as fanshot and healthshot2. I use those both regularly. I also like some of the sub-master titles, but that's irrelevant to most players heh. Regardless of what class/template/etc you play, make sure you're having fun or what's the point of paying $15/mo?
If anyone cares btw here are the attacks I use most, listed by frequency of use.
1) Last Ditch (Smuggler)
2) Fanshot (Pistoleer)
3) Healthshot2 (Pistoleer)
4) Low Blow (Smuggler)
5) Torso Shot (Bounty Hunter)
Eyeshot slips just off the radar mostly because of what I fight. As I get into pvp more I will likely start to use it more often. I do use it in pve of course, mainly when I'm grouping with my riflemen/swordsmen friends.

We can all pretty much agree that currently pistoleer is not a stand alone profession, but if in order to make a profession work you have to gather skills from several others then something isn't right. I'm all for stacking like skills to enhance, but just to make it work is wrong. Pistoleers and carbineers should be able to stand alone in their own field just as a rifleman can. I'm not asking for equal dps as that's stupid, I'm asking for pistoleers and carbineers to get the fixes they need so badly, we need our specials to work, carbineers need some decent guns and we both could use a lot more speed.

AP stands for Armor Piercing. AP0 means a base weapon, AP 1 means it's effective against "light" rated armor, AP2 means it's good against "medium" and AP3 is good against "heavy".
basically all we have in our repitoire is ap0 and ap1. meaning if something has medium armor (even if they're vulnerable to a specific damage we're dishing out) we might as well salt ourselves and let em take a bite......
