no, mbh is a must

can u explain in more detail why to add the carbines?

the character would be used mainly for pve for fs grinding and all around fun creature killing. no pvp

Master Pistoleer, Master Bounty Hunter, Carbineer 0440 is a nice build, I don't personaly like MBH. I would go with Master Pistoleer, Master Carbineer, BH 0440

To get the best pistol temp is to go smuggler also because they require pistol xp as well and bh u can but u should pick the pistol side. Here is a example: Mpistoleer/Msmuggler/(if u can) 0040 bh

my OP was sort of a two part question: What is the best pistol template? and What is the best pistol template if u had to include mbh?

i was and still am curious about both.

i think mbh/mpistol 0404 squad leader is the best pistol templet if you dont require any healing. you can use rally to boost your own defence and accuracy, just group with someone else or a pet/droid.

you get more defence and general speed aswell.

Pre CU i was the quadruple threat. Master Pistols, Rogue, Desperado, Novice Commando...It was sooooo much fun and it was really good if you played it right.

Don't knock it man, that's one badass template. General Ranged speed +75 plus pistol speed +45 is as fast as you're getting without tapes or buffs...

Melee def 295, ranged def 310, rally adds +80, and duelist stance adds 250 which makes you a great tank. That's all before adding +15 or whatever from BE clothing.

Volley fire gives you +15% damage on the target, so for example, if you have a 950 damage pistol, plus an 8% dmg slice, plus 15% volley, that becomes a 1,179 damage pistol.

Add that together with the fact that your group will always make you leader... and it rocks.

that SL template sounds interesting! Is it still viable as a template post CU? How hard is it to not have healing with that template, do alot of hits get through for serious damage?

I'm a master smugglar, pistoleer, and 4000 combat medic. It's pretty fun once you get a high end pistol. Master bouny hunter, pistolers, 4000 cm is fun too.

MBH/MP/Carb 0440

OR

MBH/MP/CM 4000

these are undoubtable the best pistol/BH combos. Mine is the first.
