Thread: Ultimate pistols template?

I want to focus only on pistols, and I am wondering if there is a consensus on the absolute best pistols only template? How bout in terms of speed/accuracy stats? What if u take into account the weapons u get if u are a bh? etc etc... opinions needed


Okay, now what would the ultimate pistols template be if u had to include at least 0444 bh? (for the fs grind)

i should point out that it would NOT be for pvp. only pve , and stuff like corvette, ns, djm , dwb etc etc

lots of viewers, no posters...


from reading i have sort of seen a consensus of mbh/mpistoleer for sure. what should the other points go into that coudl potentially boost pistols. It would probably come from smuggler, so what trees should i get


not cm or doc or anything like that, I am looking for full on pistols

There isn't really an "ultimate" template. As you can see from browsing the boards there are a few popular templates, just find something that suits your playstyle.

Everybody will have a different opinion. Since you don't require any healing, I recommend that you go Master Bounty Hunter / Master Pistoleer and then grind up various combinations with the remaining skill points to find what you really like. Personally, I like adding Carbineer x44x. You get a high damage special, a snare and some good accuracy and defense mods.

thanks for the advice so far guys!


I woudl prefer to keep my pistols as my sole weapon, so carb is probably out. should i choose to go smuggler, can anyone give me suggestions on which trees would work well. I dont know much about smuggler post cu, so i dont know what trees have the snares, strong hits, weapon certs etc. I know i could find this in the smug boards, but i would prefer to hear the advice from a pistoleer point of view

With the Combat Upgrade, you can use almost any special with any weapon. i.e. Just because you have Carbineer in your template doesn't mean that you'll be using a carbine.

As an offensive force, smuggler is definitely the way to not go. The Smugglers best damage special is a shot that lowers your own defense (the smugglers defense). Our 40 second root is now a 40 second mezz that breaks on damage. I would recommend looking elsewhere for specials instead of looking towards smuggler if you are looking for offense.

okay thanks, ill keep that in mind. what about smuggler in terms of adding to pistol accuracy/speed etc, if u even get those bonuses...?

I've been thinking about this same thing, and in addition to trying out the Pistoleer Correspondents template on an alt server, I have been thinking about these two:


1st one I thought would be good for pistols is MP, MBH, Mmarksman, 0010 medic (in my opinion it needs more healing so I would invest some money in healing effeciency attachments, shirt, or cyber rez arm (has +15 healing efficiency so heals would be the same as having 0040 medic)


My favorite part of this temp is the +120 pistol speed with no attachments and Advanced critical, Duelist stance, underhand, confusion, torso and eye shot. I probably wouldn't use very many pistoleer specials, since I would be too busy using the BH ones. I like being able to KD, dizzy, stun, blind and bleed an opponent or critter... its fun!



Then I was playing around with the character builder and found one I like a little better I think.


MP, MBH, novice SL, medic 0040, and 3 boxes of FS ranged speed. Takes a little longer to achieve but you end up with 119 pistol speed and higher melee and ranged defense, and throw in a cheap +1 speed attachment and you are the same speed as the previous temp.


After the changes to healing, my playstyle just likes to have medic 0040 or the equivelant amount of healing efficiency. I can stand in a fight much longer being able to heal for 800-900 points.... throw in duelist stance and synthsteak, and its very nice.

If you usually run in a group I'd say MBH/MP/SL 0404. If you like to run solo switch out the SL for Carbines 0440 to get the movement control. MBH/MP/CM 4000 if you prefer to have some healing available to you.


Or if you don't want to have BH there's some good crowd control based templates
