Sounds like a buff-bot's dream. I've never heard of such a restrictioin on Launchers, although I have heard of people being warned (maybe even banned) for using them in specific situations. However, actually putting it in the EULA. . . I'd be very shocked to find out that was true.

I've seen a few people get yelled at for dueling each other with launchers in Coronet starport before. The lag generated was incredible.


It's more common curtesy than a rule I think.






Totally agree here. It's horrible, and I don't condone it at all. No reason to use a Launcher at all unless you're fighting NS Elders or AT-STs anyway, so people who use them in cities deserve whatever grief they get from other players.


I'd still be shocked to see SOE take a stand on it and make a it a banneable offense, though.

Well to be completely fair - the gun is working completely as intended so grief from players is about as far as it will go probably.

Excellent point. The Devs made it just like it is. It would certainly seem inappropriate to me for them to restrict its use because of lag, when they could just change its animations to be less. . . blasty.


On the other hand, it would kinda be cool to see in Patch notes: "Due to excessive collateral damages caused by the useage of launcher pistols, these weapons have been deemed as illegal in major urban areas. Persons displaying or using these weapons in the vicinity of a starport will be apprehended by local constabulary forces, fined, and fired upon if they fail to comply."


Imagine a Stormtrooper, CorSec, or RSF officer approaching you while your Launcher Pistol is equipping, sticking you with a fat fine, and demanding that you keep it out of sight or risk further, more serious repercussions?


That would be SO cool! But then again, I don't use the Launcher, lol.

The gun as a blast weapon is woefully underpowered... especially if you have very limited Pistol skills. I've take out 3 AT-STs with it... but only because they were in a player place battlefield (about 6 Rebel Bases on one side, 6 Imperial on the other, Sanctuary, Kettemoor) and I was using the Rebel NPCs as diversions. I was using Torsoshot from BH Pistols and it took a long, long time... and many dead Rebel NPCs. LPs are very limited in their usefullness... especially for Master Commandos as there are no pistol specials/bonuses anywhere in the Commando tree.

Yes, but the launcher pistol isn't a rocket launcher, it's a fist-sized weapon that fires mini-explosives at its target. The Launcher shouldn't be mistaken in its potential for a heavy rocket launcher. It's not supposed to do that kind of damage. It's basically a way to do Pistol specials to target one HAM pool (Health), and is supposed to be more useful against smaller targets than a heavy rocket launcher is.

If you look at the launcher pistol from a commando perspective it's just silly. They have no ability with it at all. It's like us having to use the rocket launcher, just ain't gonna happen.


It forces two things:


A. It forces a pistoleer to use 6 skill points to recive a blast weapon that is little used.


B. It forces a commando to take several boxes in pistoleer to even be able to hit anything with the launcher that they recieve in the novice box.


It would be better for all involved to give the launcher to pistoleers and give the commandos something of there own in the novice box.

Actually, Percy, a Novice Commando already has BodyShot2 and HealthShot1, not to mention Suppression Fire, Warning Shot, Threaten Shot, Dive Shot, Kickupshot, RollShot, etc., etc. While non of those are as good as a Pistoleer should be, in the current state of Pistoleer it's most of our good stuff anyway.

They can have all the shots in the world.


What kills them is the accuracy and spped of the specials.

Accuracy don't mean much when your target is an AT-ST. It actually makes a difference in this game.


Speed... yeah, well, that would suck. I'd love to see the Launcher go into our repertoire, but I'm not sure thata Pistoleer/Gunfighter/TrickShot/Quickdraw/Deadeye would really use something like a Launcher Pistol. It lacks the finesse and elegance that is the Pistoleer's hallmark.


On a side note, it's lunchtime guys, so I won't be posting for about an hour. Catch yall on the flip side.

I use the launcher all the time. The secrets to using it:


1) Shoot it at what it's meant for: Turrets and AT-ST. I also use mine on some kinds of Nightsisters. Lastditch is very good with it.

2) Get a good one. One made with Gorax bone. Use a damage powerup. Min/max if possible.

3) Use specials intelligently. Find a damage calc, and run your numbers through it. Use the resulting best special. You are in a race with the ATST, and you have to outdamage it.

4) On turrets, make sure a Jedi or other tank has the attention of the thing before you open fire. Turrets hurt pistoleers, alot.

5) Launcher pistol speed is generally very good. One of the faster pistols.

i got a nice one that's 397 with damage PU and 2.7 speed. I save it to use on kimo dragons if they by my house on lok lol
