Thread: Launcher Pistol??

I am a pistoleer and I use a Geo Blaster. Last night I bought a launcher pistol but I am not certified in it. Unlike most pistols it does not tell you what skill you need to be able to use it. Does anybody know?

also its not really a pistol, i think you get heavy weapons xp when you kill with it. it can use some pistol specials but not all. pretty sure it cant use anything from smuggler tree of specials.

Yah and anytime you use it around anyone they freak out. Commonly known as the Lag Launcher

Hmmmm, I have been able to use Smuggler specials with my Launcher - I know because I usually use a panic shot\change weapon combination so I dont get hit in the delay of switching to another gun, and all the other specials(Pistoleer\BH Pistols) seem to work fine as well.

The Launcher Pistol uses Pistol Mods/Specials/Speed/To-Hit but you get Heavy Weapons XP from the kill. The only time you get Pistol XP is if you use Pistol Whip. The Launcher Pistol is a Novice Commando Weapon that deals out BLAST damage... and as someone said, it is commonly known as the "Lag Pistol" due to all of the explosion effects that it causes.

I've heard that the best way to grind out HW exp is to Master Pistoleer and then use the Launcher pistol. Never done it myself though.

Yeah I do this tocap XP for my FS boxes - I cap Pistols XP then switch to a Launcher to Cap Heavy Weapons XP.
Only thing is you dont get as much Heavy Weapons XP for kills as you do Pistol XP, I usually get 2-3k Heavy Weapon XP for kills that would give me 5k Pistol XP.

But HW exp has a better HW-to-FS exp conversion ratio, doesn't it?

There was a time long ago when you got both pistol and HW xp for using the launcher.
It was of course long before you ever needed to trade in xp for anything but skill boxes.
If you have an extra 6 points lying around it's a fun thing to have on you.

no, heavy weapons xp is same conversion rate. 30:1

Also, isn't there something in the EULA that forbids this weapon being used in places with a high population, such as Coronet, etc...? Because of the massive lag this thing generates...
