Disarming shot has uses in 1v1 PvE combat.
1) when you need to use a skill that has an interruptable warm up (firearm strike or duelist stance if you're a BH.)
2) when you need to get off a heal or state recovery.
I'm not going to be damaging the MOB while doing either of the above. It helps me out if the MOB can't attack me while I do either of the above.

Your comment above just gave me the idea to add a Disarming Shot to the beginning of my bactas/stim self-healing macro.

I have disarming shot set as my default and was fighting a jedi knight today. I did not win lol, but, afterward I asked him if he noticed it and he said yes, it slowed down his rate of attack. I would suggest playing around with this and seeing what you come up with.

disarm, bacta shot, disarm, bacta toss worked just wonderfully last night against the CL 82 Bol.heals as well asa Stim D, and no damage taken during the process. That's without any enhancers either. I like my CM 4/0/0/0 skills.

Do you need a Disarm Shot before every single stim/bacta that you apply to yourself, or will it last through a whole macro of heals?

if I don't do it before each, the critter will start chewing on me while I'm doing the bacta toss. if I do it before the bacta toss, he won't start chewing on me til I put the Adv Crit between his eyes. or if he's not KD immune, he gets KD, then Adv Crit/Torso shot. Then he can chew on me again.

Hmm, thanks for that bit of info. I think I better modify my macro...

I'm trying to figure out a way to make that macro work. I start out my healing macro with an initial /disarmingShot followed by a/target self (so all my subsequent heals hit me).... but with myself targeted, I won't be able to throw another Disarming Shot at the mob using the macro. How did you set yours up, Nifty?

You dont need to target yourself to heal... they fixed that long ago (as long as you are targeting your opponent you will heal yourself).

I don't think that applies to allthree bactas that I can use. Today I wrote the same macro for one of my toonsthat I had made the other day for my alt (from memory), for applying all the bactas. One of the bactas wasn't working (I think it was Bacta Toss, but I could be mistaken)--I only saw two heals in the combat spam every time I tried to use it. I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first, until it dawned on me that I didn't have a /target self command like I did on my alt's macro. As soon as I added it, it worked properly.

Makes where a person can't attack... Like the old panic shot.
Problem is, it either lasts for less than 5 seconds or breaks on attack.

Disarming also good in giving the player time to get into a better postion. Example: Disarm shot, run back while changing to a carbine, disarm shot again, change to rifle an use stopping shot. Then you got alot of time to do some damage before they get close to you again. Then do the same to get your range back. Also have some of those burst run food just in case they try to run away from you.

personally I use it to follow up a KD, in hopes of delaying them from using KD recover long enough that KD lasts a while
