Thread: Fan Shot: Getting it to work more often.

If you still think it's not supposed to be a single shot on ONE target then how about you ask Thunderheart why we get the same shot for Master Pistoleer? What's the point in getting Fan Shot and then getting a shot that does the exact same thing for being a Master? The description for Fan Shot states, "This ranged shot can hit a SINGLE target MULTIPLE times." The Multi Target Pistol Shot which is in the Master Pistoleer box state, "This ranged attack for pistols can hit MULTIPLE targets at once." Therefore the MULTI TARGET PISTOL SHOT IS THE AOE SHOT. The Fan Shot has been broken for the past year and still needs to be fixed!
I can draw you pretty pictures to show you how the shot is intended to work if you can't quite comprehend it Randonb. It sometimes pays to have a clue before attempting to make another look as though they don't understand. I could care less how this shot has been working as an aoe shot for the past year. The fact is it's broken and not working correctly when it hits multiple targets. If yourself and the rest of the pistoleer community is still under the dillusions that the shot is working as intended then you need to have a serious chat with the Pistoleer developer and have him explain to you what each shot is supposed to be doing.

I agree with MandarrCOG.
I checked it out again and it is indeed a cone multi target shot.
Pistoleer should be fixed though. I remember way back when, the devs mentioned they were very much interested in giving pistoleers double pistol wielding, but nothing ever came of it. They should fix this profession and give us double wielding abilities.

Fanshot is great for accidentally aggroing stormtroopers if they are remotely near you when in combat, this will lead to your tef lighting up like a christmas tree in an inconvenient area like near Theed. But don't worry you can hit stopping shot once every 7 mins to defend yourself. So fanshot is AOE, I have manycloning experiences to prove it but I still love this profession even though its too slow without BH or SEA's.

Great job pulling this from the skills screen. A better fix would be to have a dev slap whoever wrote the text for the skill screen, then have them go in and switch these 2 explanations because they are backwards. The Fan shot looks like and does hit mutiple targets (more than 1 MOB), the Multi-Target Pistol Shot hits one MOB but more than once (i don't know if it's tagetting different HAM attributes but it will list the same target 2-3 times).

I never noticed the non-agro to agro first shot before with the fan shotbut i will watch for that, makes sense though.

well think about what"MULTI TARGET pistol shot" means......the name itself indicates that it will shoot more than one target.
The way i see it, mulit target pistol shot should work in a situation where a pistoleer is standing in the middle of a room, and can shoot in multiple directions (targets)in a single turn (effectively making him a badass if our damage weren't so low). (hehe...add double pistols and we're goingto have some interesting animations, i really wish the Devs would watch "Equilibrium"for an example of what i think a pistoleer sould be)
HOWEVER, from what i've gleened off of this board, is that the special in question will cancel out of the combat queue if there is one or more targets that you cannot see (meaning behind a rock, or other object).
Fan shot in my head, is likened to a pistoleer spraying a single arc of fire rapidly from reflex (hence the cone effect).
For an example of a badass pistoleer. see the movie "Equilibrium" for a visual aid of what we SHOULD be. One o fmy Guildmates is named GrammatonCleric, watch the movie and you'll understand (though unfortunately he went swordsman because pistoleer is a severe disappointment to him.)

Personally i think the devs need to fix the broken specials before this combat rebalance, then decide on what to do. Pistoleers shouldnt have to be BH or smuggler as well just to be effective imo. Carbineers get the same specials as BH pretty much, but pistoleers get weaker ones

No Mandarr, this is wrong. AOE can mean 'so' many things, it's often miscontrued as to what was intended. Fanshot is a CONE shot (in the shape of a 'FAN') MTPS is a Circle shot. This means you fire in a circle with the center being you. it's a 32m circle, unfortunately, if anything being 'targeted' by MTPS is suddenly blocked from Line of Sight by say...a rock, the shot 'breaks' and nothing works right. It doesn't mean it should be the 'exclusive' ability to hit more than one thing, but it sounds alot better than 'circle shot'. Further, RadonB is our Correspondant, in this case he's right and he has ALOT of history for Pistoleer backing him up.
Lastly, stop being a newless cluebie about what shots should and shouldn't do. The effect you are describing (hitting a target multiple times) happens with Fast Blast (for bounty hunter) and really 'ought' to happen with double tap if anything. Fanshot works perfectly (except for that silly aggro/nodamage thing) and MTPS is only bugged out if you're not in a clear area.

Sorry Bub, but I do know what I'm talking about here. And I know Radonb is the correspondant duh. That means he needs to have a better understanding of the shot than he apparently has otherwise he's not representing the pistoleer community as well as he should. Untill this shot hits ONE target multiple times, it's broken.

do you even know how multi-target pistol shot works?
also fanshot, as in the actual definition, is a maneuver where you fire sporatically in the same direction- hence, FANshot
the shot isn't broken, the description is. and you, sir, are a moron

Thanks for trolling there junior. I've been a master pistoleer before and I'll go back to it again even though it's broken all to hell. This shot is broken and has been from the beginning. No matter how many names you call me it doesn't fix the shot.
