A few days ago I would have said: yes a jedi should own you they should be the most powerful profession in the game.
After seeing what I have been seeing for the past two days with the release of publish 9 however, I completely disagree. From what I've seen, one in every 10 or so people in the game is a jedi.... making them uber would completely destroy the balance of the game.
Can you imagine pvping in the GCW and watching the (multiple)jedi on both sides of the field facing off while all the non jedi just stand around and try to do damage? I can, and i feel that this WILL be the future of the galactic civil war if something is not done.
I totally agree and this was the intent of my original post...some newb jedi completely ownd me...imagine what the jedi knights will be like? It's rediculous!
No, Pistoleer just sucks at PvP, and fromthesound of it you were spamming Healthshot. You definitely shouldn't have had a chance in this fight. At the same time,a lot of 4444 Guardians are complaining that Fencers are owning them. I'm glad you got owned. Jedi should be amazingly powerful. Yes, the number of jedi running around is a little distrubing but it's definitely not1 in 10. But they are making it harder to become a Jedi with the up coming trials. No more simple prof grinding. It really isn't that easy to be a Jedi either. Every time you use force powers someone who doesn't suck at PvP will probably come and kill you because of your TEF. You were basically fighting Anakin from Episode 2. I know, he was an extra special Jedi but this is basically the calibur of Jedi you were facing. And personally I'm excited to see huge PvP battles between large forces of Jedi. It will look awesome. I just think it's funny that it took a battle with a Jedi for you to realize that Pistoleer sucks. Most of us figured it out the first time we tried to kill a meatlump. LOL
heh...I have PvPd with Pistoleer for a long, long time...and NEVER have I been oblitherated this way by anyone other than a CM, and a few times that a TKA hybrid stuck a dizzy/KD on me early on in the fight. I do not "spam" healthshot2. I use a variety of attacks, but nothing worked. At least I was able to stick the bleed even if it was weak. Next time I will include my combat log to backup my post.
You have your opinion and that is fine. You want Jedi to be uber and you want to see large scale jedi battles. Guess what? They have a game like that called KOTOR. Galaxies was never intended to be jedi wars. Galaxies is based on the GCW and the professions and support personel behind the scenes.
You are glad that I got PWND? Gee, thanks! I hope that my in-game misfortunes made your life just a little better today.
BTW - if you can't PvP with pistoleer I suggest that you go CM/Rifles or something that doesn't take much strategy.

the only problem i really have is there will be millions of jedi running around with the same robe, same lightsabers
it'll just be the next reincarnation of composite wars
i totally wouldn't mind jedi being in the game if they were just very rare
umm...no
actually it's all the same looking Zabrak jedi with the same robes, but some of them have 2-handed sabers now =)

or it could lead to having to pay 10 million for somethin you used to pay 5 million because the jedi will keep everything for them/freinds/guild or sell the items for over inflated prices.
That won't happen. It simply doesn't work that way. With more rare items in the economy beign looted by all these aweful Jedi, everything will decrease in credit value and become more affordable for people like us Pistoleer who can't solo Krayts, NS Elders, or the Death Watch Bunker to get good loot.
Yeah, seeing everyone running around in the same armor is boring. The devs need to concentrate on making the different types of armor and weapons each useful in their own ways. Then PvP would be interesting. But everyone who PvP's has a full suit of Comp armor with a Geo/Jawa/Stun Baton in their hand and spams the same moves every time. I hope this mythical "combat balance" will adress this problem.

i haven't seen a jedi without a two-handed lightsaber...... i saw three today in coronet all buying shuttle tickets at the same time
On an unrelated note, the true reason jedi are popular is that this game lacks anything for the Achiever playstyle to do, aside from jedi. You get master, you buy your armor and buffs, and that's it. You have nothing to strive for. Many players are compelled to strive for something on the horizon, it's their playstyle, and the only thing there in SWG right now is Jedi. For most of the jedi and would-be jedi out there, it has little to do with some romantic fascination with the lightsaber, and everything to do with boredom. Keep that in mind when making your "there are too many jedi" threads.
I do believe that is one of the smartest things anyone's said for the longest time on an SWG forum...its so true...so true. But the question becomes: is making more and more impossibly hard dungeons really going to help make this game any more interesting? Is the only 'Achiever' playstyle for pistoleer getting beaten bloody and senseless at the DWB until we find the uber de-10 schematic and its components? It seems that is all there is for use to do now? I mean who wants to fight another dungeon-theme-park especially if we lack the firepower to do it without like 20 melee profession stackers and 3+ doctors and a small army of Bounty Hunters, commandos, and riflemen?--I know its a stretch but heck, for the sake of argument...
For instance, I remember them talking about making a themepark based not on killing but---gasp---something close, but not quite, to Roleplaying?
Where's my achiever potential for pistoleer?

The only reason I said I was glad you got owned is because a Jedi should definitely own a Pistoleer, especially in the state our profession is in. Hey, I do fine in PvP also but in the grand scheme of things a pure Pistoleer sucks at PvP. The only way to do ok is to have Smuggler or BH. I used to care about continuity between SWG and the actual Star Wars story line, but the devs threw that out the window a long time ago. Now I just want the game to be fun. All elite combat profs should be pretty equal in battle competence, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Jedi, on the other hand, should be able defeat any of the combat profs one on one.
Also, to HettarII: It would be a great thing if there was some price deflation in this economy. The SWG economy is so incredibly inflated right now that only ub3r l33t power players and credit dupers can buy a nice gun. Something that is 5 mil now and deflating to 500k would be a great turn in our economy. It would mean that the economy in SWG might actually be getting back down to normal.

I have to admit, this jedi change had given me alot more love for the game. Not because I like it but because it has given me a goal. I need to kill jedi. I have a jedi killing template I think will be rather unique that will allow me to keep my beloved pistoleer and smuggler masteries. Master Smuggler/master pistoleer, TK 4/4/0/0 (stack those defence mods and gotta love meditate), medic 0/0/3/0, and brawler pikemen 2 (nightsister DOTs, fear the mind fire Jedi). I have quitea few friends who have killed high level jedi post publish 9. It's all about just being prepared.
The one atvantage those of us who PvP have over 75% of the jedi out there is that the vast majority og the holo whores who unlocked never PvPd before they became jedi. This puts them at a disatvantage IMO.anyhoo, just my 2 cents
I have Master Brawler as well as Master Pistoleer and various smuggling skills. When I dueled that jedi I wanted to see 2 things: 1) how many shots would hit him and 2) what would the damage be?
2 out of 13 hit (the rest were saber blocked) and sapping shot did very little damage when it landed. I could have tried to intimidate/warcry/whatever but I was testing the waters so to speak...
So yes, a "jedi killing template" can be created, but any ranged offensive skills (especially pistoleer skills)are in vain because they do little to no damage.
