So I dueled a jedi yesterday (guildy) and was a bit miffed at the outcome...

We were both un-buffed, he had his robe and I was not wearing any armor.

Out of the 13 shots that was able to fire, only 2 sapping shots hit for a total of 71 points of damage. I was able to dodge/evade a few of his attacks, but one things in particular really pissed me off: he threw his saber at me, I evaded it butstilltook 200pts of damage!!

His saber blocked almost everything, and when I did hit him it was for very, very little damage.

yeah, at the end of the duel he talked some smack...what a joke this game is turning out to be, 50,000 zabrak jedi running around out in the open using force powers with no consequenses whatsoever....

Well, to be fair, the jedi are supposed to pwn the living $%^& out of 'normies', those unforunate few that have lives other than grinding 20+ profession...

I agree...to an extent. Jedi should be uber but not when the profession is so common. There are way too many Jedi to make them so powerful. If only masters (and that should be very hard to attain) were "all poweful" then I'd be fine with that, but it's about impossible right now for any ranged profession to take out a low level jedi.

Jedi should rock. It should be the strongest class in the game by far, but...it should have penalties. It should be hard. It should be the strongest, but the hardest and longest profession in the game.

A few days ago I would have said: yes a jedi should own you they should be the most powerful profession in the game.

After seeing what I have been seeing for the past two days with the release of publish 9 however, I completely disagree. From what I've seen, one in every 10 or so people in the game is a jedi.... making them uber would completely destroy the balance of the game.

Can you imagine pvping in the GCW and watching the (multiple)jedi on both sides of the field facing off while all the non jedi just stand around and try to do damage? I can, and i feel that this WILL be the future of the galactic civil war if something is not done.

Don't you mean the Jedi civil war?

Sadly, I think the jedi pwnage was originally intended to be that way, be it newb jedi or no. But yes, things have gotten out of hand, seeing as how there are way too many, in pub10 they need to change the name to SWG: THE NEW ACADEMY or something of a similar vein...oh well, what are we gonna do, not play? Once space comes out, I'm gonna use my Hutt Fighter to orbitally bombard Jedi with photon torpedoes...can't block that with a saber..

You fool!

I had a friend who really, really wanted me to dress up as Spock for the SWG Convention..

I too faced a Dark Jedi Master on TC Bria. He blocked close enough to everything that he would regenerate the damage before I hit him again. I hear that saber block doesn't work against melee, however. Perhaps the jedi hunting parties will in fact be a Bounty Hunter and a whole lot of melee. There are reports of Bounty Hunters soloing n00b and n00b-ish jedi, but you are absolutely right that after a certain point it is completely impossible. He will need to bring friends.

I don't see that as a problem though. My main issue here is that they are impervious to ranged characters, and melee is the only way to do it (unless my information on saber blockis behind the times, which is entirely possible). I see that as a balance disparity. I'd be more comfortable if they were impervious to both or neither.

On an unrelated note, the true reason jedi are popular is that this game lacks anything for the Achiever playstyle to do, aside from jedi. You get master, you buy your armor and buffs, and that's it. You have nothing to strive for. Many players are compelled to strive for something on the horizon, it's their playstyle, and the only thing there in SWG right now is Jedi. For most of the jedi and would-be jedi out there, it has little to do with some romantic fascination with the lightsaber, and everything to do with boredom. Keep that in mind when making your "there are too many jedi" threads.

No, Pistoleer just sucks at PvP, and fromthesound of it you were spamming Healthshot. You definitely shouldn't have had a chance in this fight. At the same time,a lot of 4444 Guardians are complaining that Fencers are owning them. I'm glad you got owned. Jedi should be amazingly powerful. Yes, the number of jedi running around is a little distrubing but it's definitely not1 in 10. But they are making it harder to become a Jedi with the up coming trials. No more simple prof grinding. It really isn't that easy to be a Jedi either. Every time you use force powers someone who doesn't suck at PvP will probably come and kill you because of your TEF. You were basically fighting Anakin from Episode 2. I know, he was an extra special Jedi but this is basically the calibur of Jedi you were facing. And personally I'm excited to see huge PvP battles between large forces of Jedi. It will look awesome. I just think it's funny that it took a battle with a Jedi for you to realize that Pistoleer sucks. Most of us figured it out the first time we tried to kill a meatlump. LOL

This is just the beginning. As more and more people unlock it'll get worse and now that they can have other skills, until they reach high lvl and have tosurrender them, they don't need to play their original character nearly as much or not at all.

The effect Jedi are having on the GCW has been bad for the last month. Sure they may suffer a exp loss for dying but if they get rezed their isn't any and I won't even go into that LD BS they've been trying to pull to avoid a penalty.

If you thought all that was/is bad it's not the worst.

Wait about 2 weeks and you'll start to see some pissed off people and the general dislike for Jedi along the lines of CM's (doesn't seem possible does it). Just wait until your killing a Krayt or killing your favorite type of creature/NPC and you have a Jedi come through and slice and dice your Krayt away from you or whatever it is. I haven't seen anything with LS resistance so basically they can rip through high lvl mobs easily. I've heard one Jedi talking about how he killed a spawn of 2 krayts at the same time by himself.

So I'm predicting Jedi will become the worst kill steal/loot whore profession there ever was. It could even trash the economy because since they can kill high lvl mobs so much faster then people could before they could flood the market with stuff and what you payed5 million for before could drop to 500k. Doesn't sound that bad? Well if youthinkmorein to it you realize that means not only more skill attachmentsbut also DOT weapons and more of the real uber ones. If you've ever seen some of the really good ones you know they shouldn't even be in the game let alone have more of them.

They screwed up the game first with holocrons and grinding and they don't seem to have gotten any smarter since then.

Hope I'm wrong
