Thread: Pistoleer / Fencer Dodge is no longer stacking!
Finally....I am a fencer and I think the dodge stack was so stupid.....I mean a master fencer/master pistoleer combo would = unhittable
Plus many pistoleers were getting into fencer just cause that.......Now fencers will be **Rare** again

I am of two minds on this. Obviously with my template I have ALOT of insane defenses. It really doesn't seem right that I should be untouchable to some things. Yet... I am at a severe diusadvantage in lot of areas. I have 0 terrain, I have 0 medic and I am dependant on others to supply alot of what I need to be combat effective (doctor, dancer, musician, armoursmith, weaponsmith and anyone needed to support those professions). There is a sacrifice to be this effective in combat. I give up a lot of things that make it easy on a character to be self sufficient in both PvP and PvE.
*shakes his head* this is a shame. Why is it no one can be happy how the game is. here we actually have something good... combine a few classes and take advantage of the mods. Good thinking... but noooooo everyone and their grandma has to bitch about one template being more powerful then the other in pvp (which is pretty **edit**ed up condicering you get NO exp pvping yopu have to go kill npcs and monsters to really level..)
The dodge in pistoleer was it's only good point. With how broken that job is... the stacking was quite nice. Well at least I don't have an regrets dropping pistol now... Still if you ask me thats bull **edit**. We don't level up... we can't get permament stat increases... so what the hell is so wrong with making great templates that take advantage of all the defence mods? PVP isn't the only way to play people... ><
it isn't just dodge thats as overpowered as hell...
its the stacking melee/ranged defence bonuses too
All the defences shouldnt stack even ranged and melee defence.
In the other case everyone who wants to do pvp would be forced to take such a template.
Sure Pistoleer/Fencer or Carabineer/Swordsman was unbeatable pvp templates, but why was they ?
Only because all the other "normal" players hadn't figured that out.
if two skill modifiers are not meant to stack, they should better have different names - everything else is just misleading.
another way to make clear that skill modifiers do not stack would be changing the modifier to a rating. if the skill box says "dodge 30" that would mean that you get a rating of 30 unless you already have a better rating, while "dodge +30" would increase (modify) your rating by 30.
With a stroke the devs have removed 1/2 the interesting class combinations in the game and leveled everything in the most boring way possible. All without so much as TELLING US they were doing it. Sheesh. Sucks.
For any who said it should get nerf'd because it was too strong, it wasn't cross-profession defense stacking that was broken, it was the overall game balance (they just needed to curve the stack, say making any value above 100 less effective per-point). Instead of fixing things, they leveled it. It's starting to look like a parking lot here. Big, empty, boring.
I KNOW they're revamping the combat system over the next few months. I guess comeing back when it's done is the best thing to do. I mean, come on, a game where the rules aren't disclosed AND change constantly, without notice, is not a game. Rules make it a game, SWG is becoming a pretty chat room. Theme'd IRC if u will... Can you tell I'm dissapointed?
