To a living target, surea bullet's a bullet. Consider the difference in damage potential when the Rifle and the Pistol take a couple potshots at a concrete slab, an engine block, or a steel plate. They are more powerful.


And when the game was first released, that's how it was, actually. With just the 4 ranks in Marksman, people could one-shot each other exactly like in Real Life and brawlers didn't stand a chance. Now, as a Pistoleer I LOVED that because I got the first shot which was the last shot. Riflemen, being just novices at the time never got the kill before the speedy Pistoleers wiped them out and the Carbineers were too busy killing themselves from HAMs before buffs came around.


That changed because people didn't like it that real so the 75% PvP Damage Reduction was brought in. Personally, even though I liked those really quick battles, I don't think we'll ever see them again. I do agree that slowing the other professions down to the way they ought to be would be the most appropriate way to make us a viable class.

Seems the time I have spent on pistoleer has been a waste of time, it seems from the above that we will be a support class. If so, it will be later days.

Duel wield pistols sounds awesome.


1. There would need to be a damage modifier that means the total damage of both weapons. IE 2 * de 10 Max on both 615 Would not equate to 1230 damage if both hit at once. How this would be done i am not sure. Maybe a chance to hit ratio divided by the speed / accuracy.


2. In RL firing a single weapon uses both hands for stability and better aim. Having a pistol in both hands should reduce the accuracy.


3. i dont think the speed should be effected at all as how quick can anyone pull a trigger.


4. Should definatley be a master pistoleer skill only.


5. Maybe because its easy to speed cap pistols if you take BH pistol skills as well there could be a reload timer using 2 weapons. ie 1 weapon only instant reload no break as you have a spare hand. Using 2 weapons means a 1 or 2 second delay every 20 shots to act like you are reloading the weapons.


Just some thoughts but if done correctly this would mean ranged against Jedi becomes viable again.

Dual-Wielding should incur a Speed penalty as well. Since the greater recoil of two pistols requires a greater recovery time to fire your next shot, you would be delayed in your speed.


Increase damage by x1.5 or x1.75, reduce Spd by the equivalent of -15 or -20 Pistol Speed, and Accuracy by the same.


I think that would be well worth it. Imagine a pair of 450 max DE-10s. With a x1.5 multiplier on them you're looking at 675 max w/o PUP! That's a huge bonus, well wortha 0.3 second delay and a -15 or -20 penalty to accuracy in my opinion.

Think we'll ever get Machine Pistols? Imagine dual-wielding the SWG equivelant of two MAC-10s or a pair of Uzis. We'd clear entire rooms before the slower guys got their guns up.

My take on it...


* The damage of the second weapon should be reduced by 1/2, while the primary weapon is uneffected.
* Speed time is increased for both weapons.
* Accuracy is reduced for both weapons (as duel wielding is used as a more of a wild form of attack).
* Any combo of pistols can be used
* All HAM costs should be doubled.

I really agree with SolrFlare. (Third or fourth post) If it can be implemented, I think it would be balanced... howerver.. there might be problems with the super damage sliced DE-10's.. I'm sure the devs can fix that somehow though.

I am wondering why duel pistols is being put on hold for after the CU. Could it be because some types of weapons will have different settings to use? This would in effect could give pistols a big advantage as we might be able to have 2 pistols with different settings.

Yay..this would give the title "Gunslinger" the real sense back. But get rid of the idea that the weapons must have same serial. That's stupid!
not sure, but i guess this wouldn't allow dual woelding of DE-10's.

Yeah, same serial would totally eliminate DE-10 dual-wieldage.
